SideRack is a plug-in designed for macOS that works on a Mac's digital audio workstation (DAW) using audio plug-ins that run on mobile devices such as iPads and iPhones. It seamlessly integrates innovative AUV3 plug-ins and the touch interface experience of mobile devices into a professional** production environment.
SideRack consists of two main parts: the SideRack plugin and the SideRack server. The SideRack plugin is designed for use in DAWs for macOS, while the SideRack server runs on mobile devices. Audio and MIDI signals from the DAW input to the SideRack Plugin can be connected via a USB interface and quickly transmitted and processed by the SideRack Server.
Advantages of plug-ins for mobile devices.
Operate as intuitive as playing a musical instrument - Mobile devices are optimized for touchscreen use, providing an intuitive and expressive interface. Most plug-ins support multi-touch, allowing for a realistic instrument-like experience, such as playing chords or adjusting knobs while playing a melody.
Enter MIDI notes using the Touch Panel or Apple Pencil – Enter notes in a piano reel optimized for the touch panel or Apple Pencil more efficiently than using a mouse. You can quickly capture inspiration. Inserting a MIDI plug-in with a piano reel into the siderack can dramatically improve the MIDI note input experience in the DAW.
Portability and ease of use – iPads and iPhones can be taken with you wherever you go, so you can start making whenever you want. Recently, it has become common to create a sketch in a DAW on a mobile device and then complete it in a desktop DAW in the studio. Using SideRack in this workflow allows you to use audio plug-ins used in the sketch stage in the studio's desktop DAW.
Cost-effective – Many mobile audio plug-ins cost less as compared to desktop audio plug-ins. Using SideRack allows you to introduce unique and innovative plugins into your setup on a reasonable budget.
Features include: AUV3 Plugin Support - The iOS App Store offers a plethora of innovative and unique AUV3 plugins that you won't find in PC plugins. SideRack allows these plug-ins to be used in PC-based DAWs.
Easy to set up - SideRack can be set up in just a few steps, and plug-ins on mobile devices can be used immediately in the DAW.
High-quality audio processing - SideRack delivers uncompressed audio and MIDI data in real time. The quality of signal processing on mobile devices is comparable to that of a professional studio computer.
Low latency without compromising the playing experience - Any latency caused by the transmission and processing of audio and MIDI is kept to a minimum as possible. Your performance on your mobile device can be output instantly through speakers connected to your computer.
Includes three types of plug-ins - The siderack license includes three types of plug-ins: Siderack Audio Effects:
Send audio to and receive audio from the siderack server.
SideRack MIDI Effect: Sends MIDI to and receives MIDI from the SideRack server.
SideRack Instruments Send MIDI to the SideRack server and receive audio from the SideRack server.
SideRack is available for Mac users (VST3 and AU).
