First of all, we will introduce 3D printing plastic materials: PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, etc.
PLA is the most widely used, made of renewable resources (such as corn starch, sugarcane), environmentally friendly and low-toxic, with smooth and delicate surface texture, low melting point, low stiffness and strength, which may be easy to brittle, and poor light and chemical resistance.
ABS has high strength and abrasion resistance, and is resistant to high temperatures. The molding speed is fast, the cost is low, and the pungent smell of toxic substances will be produced when printing, and the printing accuracy is poor. Wearable items such as bracelets can be printed, and they are easy to color and paint.
PETG material has high strength and hardness, it is a tough material, suitable for making objects with high mechanical stress. High transparency and good gloss, suitable for manufacturing transparent or translucent 3D printing products. It is resistant to most organic matter and chemical solvents, and has good acid, alkali and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for applications requiring high safety such as food containers and tools. During the printing process, it may change color, changing from transparent to foggy or translucent, which may affect the aesthetics and transparency of the print.
The finished product printed by TPU material is soft and elastic, with good wear resistance and grease resistance. It is difficult to post-production processing, it is difficult to stick parts with glue, and the printing temperature is high. Soles can be printed.
