Recently, the Duisburg Gateway Terminal (DGT) officially entered the trial operation phase and successfully loaded and unloaded its first container, marking a solid step forward in the construction of Europe's largest inland terminal.

It is reported that DGT will be officially put into operation in the summer of 2024, aiming to achieve 100% carbon neutrality and set a new green benchmark for the global logistics industry.

The construction of this magnificent terminal was announced in 2019 by duisport, the operator of the Port of Duisburg, with a total investment of hundreds of millions of euros. Its emergence will not only greatly improve the efficiency of logistics and transportation in the interior of Europe, but also inject new vitality into the global chain.

DGT's planning is ingenious, with rail transport, inland transport and road transport accounting for % and 20% respectively, highlighting its modern and diversified transport characteristics.

To ensure efficient operation, the DGT is equipped with 6 state-of-the-art cranes, 12 rail freight platforms with a length of 730 meters, 5 loading bays and 3 barge berths.

These advanced facilities and equipment will provide a strong guarantee for the rapid loading and unloading and transshipment of goods. It is worth mentioning that DGT also plans to start operations when the first containers arrive at the terminal in the summer of 2024, and its handling capacity is strong enough to handle freight needs of all sizes.

As the world's largest inland port and Europe's leading logistics hub, the Port of Duisburg has unique geographical advantages and perfect supporting facilities.

Here, DGT will form synergies with the existing facilities such as 21 port basins, 9 container terminals, 21 quay cranes, 200 kilometers of train tracks, 5 imported coal terminals, and 600,000 cubic meters of canning capacity, and jointly create an efficient, green and intelligent logistics center.
