Panasonic will never give up the entry machine as long as the customer has a request

PhotoTrend published an interview with the Director of Panasonic Imaging Business Division.

(Is the Lumix S1 series obsolete?) )

In order to meet the needs of a wide range of creators, we will strengthen our product lineup in the future. The S1 series is also an important product to meet the needs of high-level creators.

(Many manufacturers have abandoned entry-level cameras, is Panasonic planning to re-enter the market?) )

As long as the customer asks for it, we will never give up on the entry-level market. In January of this year, the Lumix G100D, an entry-level mirrorless camera, was launched, and we will continue to strive to meet the needs of users who want to easily record ** and **, as well as trackers who want high image quality.

(In an interview in 2020, you said that your goal was to become the No. 1 full-frame mirror-free market, but how are you doing now four years later?) )

In Europe, especially in France, Lumix's popularity and market share are very high. Our goal is to be the number one in the field of creators who shoot still images and moving images in individuals and small teams, with Panasonic having a 12% full-frame market share in France.

(Do you think the Lumix S series is complete?) Or is there something missing? )

We will continue to provide creators with the means to broaden their creative horizons. As outlined in the roadmap, super telephoto lenses for both amateurs and professionals are also in development.

(What is the future strategy of the Bayonet Alliance?) )

The l-mount alliance has grown from the original 3 companies to 8 companies, which is not only an important choice for still photographers but also for ** photographers. Partnering with other companies to cover areas that cannot be covered within Panasonic is also one of the grand strategies.

(How does the Lumix S 28-200mm make it amazingly small?) )

Due to the results of extensive optical research, it is possible to significantly reduce the size. For example, by using plastic molded aspherical lenses, extremely high performance was achieved while reducing the volume. In order to derive the best solution for performance and size, we did a lot of simulations.

(Same question, why Lumix S100mm F2.)8How can it be so small? )

The combination of bilinear motors, a revolutionary new technology and aspheric lenses, makes it possible to achieve miniaturization and high-speed and accurate AF. This linear motor is very compact, but it has 3 times the power of a conventional linear motor, and the focusing lens group can be controlled with a single motor. We are developing new 70-200mm or f12 lenses, it should be possible to take advantage of this technology.

(L mount F1.)Will the 2 shots appear? )

I want to discuss while listening to the needs.

(Does the product use artificial intelligence?) )

We support engineers in the development of optical systems, but we cannot disclose details.

(Will the new BGH1 BS1H inspired by the G9II and S5II be here?) )

As part of the merger of the professional and consumer businesses, several products, including the new box camera, are being discussed.

((about) a camera with a stacked sensor or a global shutter that targets professional sports?) )

Professional sports photography is a category with a very high barrier to entry, but looking at the (development) of sensors while looking at the opportunities that offer stacked sensors and global shutters is also available.
