Can minors stay in hotels? The availability of minors at the hotel depends on their age and the presence of a guardian.
A minor is a citizen who has not reached the age of majority in accordance with the laws of each country. In China, according to Article 17 of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China and Article 2 of the People's Republic of China for the Protection of Minors**, minors refer to citizens under the age of 18. The age stages of minors can range from infants, toddlers, children, adolescents to young adults, and can be divided into different types according to their age and characteristics, such as ordinary minors, minors with disabilities, minors with illegal and criminal acts, etc. Minors are a special social group that is not yet physically and psychologically mature and needs special care and love from the State, society, schools and families in order to protect their rights and interests. Therefore, the protection of minors is the responsibility of the whole society.
According to Article 6 of the Measures for the Administration of Public Security in the Hotel Industry, hotels must register for the accommodation of tourists, and need to check the identity documents of passengers, and truthfully register according to the prescribed items. Minors who are at least 16 years old and have a valid ID card can check in to the hotel with their ID card. However, if a minor is under the age of 16, he or she will still need to be accompanied by a guardian to check in to the hotel, even if he or she has a real and legal ID card.
At the same time, Article 57 of the newly revised "Protection of Minors of the People's Republic of China**", which came into effect on June 1, 2021, stipulates that when hotels, guesthouses, hotels and other accommodation operators accept minors to stay, or accept minors and adults to stay together, they shall inquire about the identity and relationship of the parents or other guardians; Where suspected violations or crimes are discovered, they shall immediately report it to the public security organs, and promptly contact the minors' parents or other guardians.
Therefore, minors are allowed to stay in hotels under certain conditions, but they need to pay attention to relevant regulations and safety matters.
