Mondo Fashionable Updated on 2024-03-01

Milan Fashion Week's fashion show came to an end on Sunday, giving a first glimpse into the Fall-Winter 2024-2025** looks. Here are some of the key trends.

Despite the chilly autumn and winter temperatures, designers go all-in on see-through trends, whether it's Armani, Prada, Gucci or Alberta Ferretti

At Dolce & Gabbana, not only did supermodel Naomi Campbell bring stunning elements to the runway and Eva Mendes in the front row, but there was also a range of chic, close-fitting looks – all in black, inspired by classic tuxedos.

The design duo dedicates almost their entire collection to this trend. An inky black sheer silk skirt is tied at the hips or at the front with a bolero-style tuxedo jacket, while a sheer black shirt is accented with ribbons and trimmed with feathers.

Particularly daring are fishnet dresses that reveal black hot pants and a triangle bra underneath.

Giorgio Armani introduced a softer, gentler style, with a sheer pale blue silk shirt knotted at the neck and embellished with Japanese-inspired collections, some of which were also printed with floral motifs.

A bright pink robe - an unusual burst of color from the master of pastel shades - is a boudoir shape prepared for ***, transparent, but embroidered with flowers near the hem.

In Tom Ford, the stunning grape-colored long tights may have completely enveloped the body with long sleeves and a high neckline, but it's completely sheer and only the bikini bottoms peek out from underneath.

The ethical debate over the use of fur continues, with a ** storming Fendi's fashion show on the first day of the show, while animal rights groups are similarly targeting Max Mara in an ongoing campaign.

But the designers have shown the endless possibilities of fake "faux" fur – furry synthetics are present throughout the week in various brands such as Prada and Diesel, Emporio Armani and Marni.

Marni's fashion show was held in a pulp cave, so it was fitting that its faux fur had a modern, primitive feel.

The coat is short but large in size, the sleeves are as long as a sloth, and the shaggy black shawl is also plentiful.

Diesel's furry look – somewhere between furry and wool – is comparable to that of Chewbacca from Star Wars, while Emporio Armani's furry cropped jacket comes in black and red, or navy and sea green, elegantly decorated with gray.

Prada opted for maximum contrast, adding faux mink to the neckline, hem and shoulders of the feminine white dress, while faux fur in purple, maroon and royal blue adorned the oversized captain's hat.

Cable knits, ribbed sweaters and dresses were ubiquitous on the Milanese runway, giving the wearer a cosy glamour.

A skinny cable knit grey dress by Max Mara encased the lithe model inside, with the pattern woven diagonally to better fit her curves.

The wide ribbed sash is reminiscent of the Japanese sash on the kimono, which cinds the waist of the pants or skirt, while the oversized ribbed black sweater is paired with a long skirt and the neck is the only one exposed.

Fendi's knitwear evokes British style, but it's anything but old-fashioned in the collection, with capes happily draped over shoulders or shrugged sweaters worn over jackets that cover the neck and arms but not the torso.

Argentine designer Adrian Appiolaza's debut at Moschino unveiled an oversized cable-knit camel sweater and pearls – a classic concept turned on its head by adding an asymmetric red ruffled skirt over grey slacks and a button.

Roberto C**Alli designer Fausto Puglisi chose mustard yellow for the marble-inspired fabric stitching for his work, while Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini's satin strapless gown came in brighter shades.

Gucci opted for a voluminous, deep-neckline sweater jacket in mustard and moss-green hot pants with a matching long fur coat.

At Alberta Ferretti, green tones are incorporated into luxurious wool coats and matching shawls and appear on long satin slip dresses with lace bodices.

Fendi introduced a belted coat with wide lapels and thick plush vertical trim in a soft moss color that designer Kim Jones applied to other clothing and accessories, including over-the-knee leather boots and arm warmers. (AFP).
