Sonora Cinematic introduces Aria Vocalscapes, a virtual instrument for the Kontakt Player's atmospheric vocals
Sonora Cinematic's latest Kontakt tool provides homemakers and sound designers with a range of ambience, cinematic, and experimental vocals sung by classically trained soprano Emma May Price.
Aria Vocalscapes features an intuitive interface with two dedicated sampling slots and a large X-Y pad. It contains a variety of vocal pronunciations, ranging from traditional ones"ahh "with"mmmh "From timbre to heavily processed vocals, users are also free to load their own samples as they wish. The instrument was developed around the company's new ARIA engine, which offers a range of powerful modulation features as well as built-in performance effects and sample processing. Once a sample has been assigned to either slot, users can switch between articulations using x-y pads, making it easy to produce interesting, ever-changing vocals. There's also a pair of independent filters that can be controlled by their own dedicated step sequencers, as well as LFO and three effects slots per layer that can be loaded with a variety of built-in processors. In addition, any available parameter can be assigned to either axis of the x-y keyboard, providing rich expressive control. Alessandro Mastroianni, founder of Sonora Cinematic, said:"I've been asking Emma to come to the studio and record all these textured sounds and sparse vocal passages on my tracks. It wasn't until I decided to work with her to design an instrument that would allow me to use the colors in a simple and flexible way. That's Aria Vocalscapes. "Aria Vocalscapes is available in the Native Instruments free Kontakt Player (77 or later), PCs running Windows 10 or later and Macs running macOS 11 or later are supported.
