At the end of March 2019, I saw the information of the 12th National Calligraphy and Seal Carving Exhibition, and my heart was quite complicated and apprehensive. Life pinched the beginning and the end, and there can be a few four years in the middle. After reading the call for papers, I seemed to see calligraphy enthusiasts and already famous calligraphers all over the country busy with this: maybe they have created their satisfactory works and are preparing to submit them, or maybe they are writing at their desks, no matter how bad they are, at least they are preparing pen, ink, paper, and inkstone. I thought about how I could participate in this cultural extravaganza. Over the years, although I have been learning, accumulating, and adjusting, I have never been too keen on participating in such high-level exhibitions. It's not that I don't want to or disdain, but I feel that my abilities are not enough.

Three months have passed, and the deadline for the exhibition is imminent, and if we don't take action, everything will become a thing of the past.

Prepare sufficient materials, choose content, and consider the style ...... calligraphyA few days later, it's already July. I usually help with some calligraphy training with my sister Ms. Li Xiangning, which is spacious and has a strong atmosphere, which is suitable for creation. On July 9, 2019, I finished creating my first large-character Wei monument there. Due to the small number of words, I wrote three times in the morning and chose one item (Picture 1). The 12th National Calligraphy and Seal Carving Exhibition can be used by a person to submit multiple calligraphy works at the same time, and can enter the exhibition at the same time. This makes many people with deep calligraphy skills and comprehensive calligraphy cultivation "restless". I thought that since all the materials were ready, I would write another Lishu work. Because of the large number of words, I wrote it twice and chose one piece (Fig. 2). By the time the two works of Lishu and regular script were pasted and spliced, it was already mid-July.

Only ask about the hard work, not the harvest. The moment I sent the work, I felt like I had a big heart.

The exhibition is gratifying, but at best it is a temporary topic of conversation and discussion. No matter what the state of life is, since calligraphy is good, you must insist on learning and thinking, even if it is an amateur state, you must treat it according to professionalism. Only in this way can the harvest be unexpected.
