Marcos Marcos of the Philippines delivered a speech in Australia, saying that the Philippines will never give up any inch of land in the South China Sea and will firmly protect the South China Sea, stressing that the South China Sea is the world's most important maritime transportation hub and is of vital importance to the world. The comments have attracted widespread attention, and the Philippines appears to have taken a more active stance on the South China Sea issue.

There may be some complex considerations behind the Philippines' attitude. The South China Sea is considered the link between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, a maritime shipping route between Asia and Europe, and is of vital importance to the world.

Countries such as the United States and Japan have been concerned about the South China Sea because the stability of the region is directly related to their energy and exchange of energy. Against this backdrop, the Philippines seems to have become the leader of these countries, actively participating in the South China Sea dispute.

It is worth noting that the Philippines is not the only country surrounding the South China Sea, but it is one of the most aggressive. This may have something to do with the close relationship between the Philippines and the United States. The United States and Japan have been backing the Philippines in the hope of asserting control over the region through their performances in the South China Sea.

The US military plans to conduct large-scale military exercises with the Philippines in April this year to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries. As the first person in the United States, the Philippines has a relatively weak military force, but it has a certain bargaining chip in geopolitics.

The Philippines may not be entirely proactive in this role. It is under the weight of more than 100 million poor people and may hope to obtain some financial assistance through cooperation with the United States. The Philippines' trust in the United States is also reflected in its emphasis on the Mutual Defense Treaty, which obligates the United States to protect the Philippines in the event of an attack.

This also makes the Philippines the most controllable person in the South China Sea.

Although the Philippines' provocations in the South China Sea have raised some eyebrows, in fact, China has done a good job of responding. The South China Sea reclamation project has enabled China to establish a series of military facilities in the South China Sea, including radar stations, unmanned aerial vehicle bases, air bases, naval ports, etc., forming a comprehensive monitoring capability. We have also carried out construction on eight major islands and reefs in the South China Sea, extending our strategic depth to the south.

Although the Philippine provocation exists, it is not to be feared in relation to our strength.

A recent incident may also be telling: the United States' most advanced Seawolf-class attack nuclear submarine was rammed by an unknown object in the South China Sea, which made the US military dare not act rashly again. Although we should not underestimate the complexity of the South China Sea issue, we are fully prepared to safeguard our country's security interests. In the future situation in the South China Sea, we should remain vigilant, persist in resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic means, and maintain regional peace and stability.

The importance of the South China Sea is not only geopolitical, but also related to global and energy security. Against this backdrop, we need to be pragmatic and act wisely in the South China Sea.

The Philippines' positive rhetoric is partly constrained by its close cooperation with the United States. That doesn't mean we should be too nervous about it. While the Philippines' actions in the South China Sea may be driven by certain external factors, we have the wisdom and strength to deal with the potential challenges.

Rather than getting caught up in unnecessary tensions, it is better to seek a solution through diplomatic channels and promote peace dialogue.

The successful conduct of our reclamation projects in the South China Sea has allowed us to build a strong military infrastructure in the region. The construction of the eight major islands and reefs in Nansha, including Chigua Reef, Subi Reef and Mischief Reef, has formed a frontier fortress sea area, effectively protecting the economically developed areas along the southern coast. Our military strength and strategic deployment have reached an impressive level sufficient to ensure our dominance in the South China Sea.

The development of the situation in the South China Sea requires us to maintain a high degree of vigilance, but at the same time, we must adopt a flexible and sensible diplomatic strategy. In disputes with the Philippines and other countries, we should stand firm on our principled stance while exercising restraint and calmness. It is our long-term goal to resolve disputes through dialogue and promote regional stability and prosperity.

In response to external pressure, we should also strengthen communication and cooperation with neighboring countries. By building stronger bilateral relationships and deepening mutual understanding, we can play a more active role in regional affairs.

Through exchanges and cooperation in the economic, cultural, and people-to-people fields, we can promote common prosperity in the region and reduce potential conflicts and misunderstandings.

The resolution of the South China Sea issue requires the joint efforts of all parties to avoid taking an overly aggressive stance. We have sufficient wisdom and strength to safeguard our own rights and interests, and at the same time, we must actively promote the process of regional peace and cooperation. Through a prudent and judicious foreign policy, we can achieve a more solid position in the South China Sea and make a positive contribution to regional prosperity and harmony.
