Those moments when I was driven crazy by a child
In my home, there is a unique landscape, that is, the silent battle between my children and time. Whenever the morning sun shines into the room, or when night falls, children always show a different rhythm in their trivial daily activities - grinding.
Every morning, the moment the alarm clock rings, it is like starting a marathon with time. Dressing, washing, eating breakfast, every link is like a slow-motion movie, remember that "lightning" in Zootopia? The child is immersed in his own world, as if he has forgotten the passage of time. I'm always on the sidelines anxious but helpless, "Hurry up, baby" is a phrase I often say.
This is especially true in the evenings when doing homework. The movement of opening the textbook is slow and delicate, and every stroke seems to soak all the thoughts. Watching other children complete tasks efficiently, I often wonder if I am asking too much of my child, or if he really has a unique understanding and control over time?
However, after in-depth observation and reflection, I found that the child did not deliberately procrastinate, but lost the passage of time in the process of concentration and enjoyment. He has a childlike curiosity and desire to explore everything, which made me realize that maybe we need to not only urge, but also guide him to learn to plan his time reasonably and grasp the rhythm of life.
So, we started working together. On the one hand, through gamification, children can perceive the value of time, such as setting a timer to let him complete tasks within a limited time, and experience the feeling of time urgency, such as "wake up at half past seven in the morning", "finish dinner in half an hour", etc. Each time you complete a goal, you can get a small star as a reward. On the other hand, I also tried to slow down my pace, accompany him to explore the details of life, and understand the seriousness and love behind his struggles.
Today, this game against time is still going on, and I need to be reminded from time to time, but I believe that with the passage of time, my child will definitely get rid of the habit of doing things slowly.
What are some good ways for children to do things?
