On this new bright spring day, we ushered in director Wong Kar-wai's unique TV drama masterpiece "Flowers", and the famous oil painter Chen Yiming completed the role interpretation smoothly and skillfully across the world. Witnessing him in the play, every action and expression of his exudes an artistic atmosphere that goes deep into the bone marrow! At the same time, Chen Yiming's portrait of Ma Yili has also become a topic of heated public discussion. It's really in and out of the play, both breaking through the boundaries!
Time flies, the years are quiet, we work hard all the way, chase dreams all the way. There are bitter and sweet, only to be more determined!
Time back to the bustling Shanghai in the 50s of the 20th century, when the Bund and the intersection of Beijing Road and Sichuan Road stood a red high-rise building, where Chen Yiming's family lived and worked in peace and contentment.
From primary school to middle school, Chen Yiming served as a member of the school brigade committee and propaganda committee many times. Not only did he have a talent for art, but he also had the careful teaching of his brother Chen Yifei, who held a paintbrush and wrote a brilliant chalk hand, which was matched with his own elaborate patterns, and the school's blackboard newspaper became colorful and eye-catching. Such a talent made the school treat him differently, and he was fortunate to be sent to the art class of the Children's Palace in Huangpu District for further study.
However, things did not go as planned, and in 1968, Chen Yiming had not yet graduated from junior high school, so he was transferred to Chongming Farm in Shanghai to engage in agricultural production. That was the end of six years of hard work.
In addition to working on the farm, Chen Yiming used his talents to undertake the writing of blackboard newspapers, painting portraits of leaders, carrying out various exhibitions and various creative activities. He said that this hard physical labor is a lifelong practice for him, and without the baptism of suffering one after another, he cannot truly understand what is called tenacity and bravery. In order to help his younger brother, who was struggling in a difficult situation, Chen Yifei also struggled to think of solutions. He even offered to lend it to his brother for a period of time, as long as it allowed him to devote more time to art.
In 1973, Chen Yiming saw a glimmer of light in the darkness: he was selected to participate in the Shanghai Art College Workers, Peasants and Soldiers Art Training Course jointly organized by the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House and the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. Although it was only a small training class, it provided Chen Yiming with a valuable opportunity to train in the basics of painting. Chen Yifei also often comes to give nuanced guidance. For Chen Yiming, such an opportunity is undoubtedly like a rain after a long drought, and he goes all out to absorb the nutrients of this art.
After 1973, the training class came to the beautiful Huangshan Camellia Forest Farm to experience life. As a graduation work, Chen Yiming's "Youth Reservoir" was highly praised by the Shanghai People's Publishing House and published as a New Year painting. Chen Yiming's life seems to have suddenly found an entrance to the light, and he does not hesitate to move forward.
The college entrance examination in 1977 completely changed the trajectory of Chen Yiming's fate, and he was successfully admitted to the Oil Painting Department of Shanghai Theater Academy for further study. Everyone is envious of Chen Yiming and looks forward to a more brilliant future.
Looking back on Chen Yiming's creative path, each work is the voice of his soul. Lady (watercolor), an early work created in 1999, is his unique interpretation of traditional Chinese subjects. As long as you appreciate it with your heart, you will definitely be able to feel the leisurely ancient charm contained in it, as well as Chen Yiming's profound humanistic care. Chen Yifei's immortal brotherly demeanor is like a bright light shining on his way forward; And he himself, with his indomitable spirit, constantly pursues a higher artistic realm.
