The results of the 2023 Cross-Strait Annual Chinese Character Selection co-sponsored by relevant institutions on both sides of the Taiwan Strait were announced in Taipei on the 8th, and the character "Rong" was elected with the highest vote.
The selection activity was officially launched on October 27, inviting celebrities from all walks of life on both sides of the strait to participate in the selection of Chinese characters, and selected 36 candidate Chinese characters of the year, which will be voted online from November 21 to December 6. A total of about 15 million people on both sides of the strait votedIn the end, the character "rong" was elected as the 2023 Cross-Strait Chinese Character of the Year with more than 980,000 votes. Since its inception in 2008, the Cross-Strait Annual Chinese Character Selection Activity, with the theme of "Building Bridges with Chinese Character Culture and Writing Public Opinion on Both Sides of the Strait", has successively selected 15 cross-strait Chinese characters of the year, including "earthquake", "sheng", "rise", "micro", "ping", "progress", "turn", "and", "change", "creation", "hope", "sleepy", "boring", "difficult" and "thinking". This event is also an important part of the 2023 Cross-Strait Chinese Character Festival.
