In China, there is often a mismatch between the distribution of water resources and the demand. In order to solve this problem, Pingmei Shenma Holding Group (hereinafter referred to as Pingmei Group) has innovatively proposed a unique plan: to use the return empty train to transport water resources, so as to achieve the purpose of "South-to-North Water Diversion".

On December 5, 2023, this idea became a reality, when 2,150 tons of drinking water from the Danjiangkou Reservoir departed from Pingdingshan Railway Station in Henan Province and finally arrived in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, after a three-day journey. The project was named "Danshui North Transportation" by Pingmei Group, marking a new attempt to transport water resources by rail.

Danjiangkou Reservoir, the largest artificial freshwater lake in Asia, is located at the junction of Hubei Province and Henan Province, and is the water source of the middle route of the "South-to-North Water Diversion Project". Through this innovative project, Pingmei Group has not only alleviated the problem of water shortage in Northwest China, but also effectively used the original empty coal train to achieve the optimal utilization of resources.

The logic behind the project is that special trains that were originally used to transport coal from the north to the south are usually unladen on their return. Pingmei Group has made use of this idle transportation capacity to realize the transportation of water resources to the north. This not only improves the efficiency of transportation, but also brings better quality drinking water to the residents of the receiving areas.

The "Danshui North Transportation" project includes the construction of a 10 million tonne annual water intake, transportation, water production and sales system, covering Xichuan County, Yuncheng, Linfen, Yan'an, Yulin, Ordos, Hohhot and other places. Through this project, Pingmei Group not only exerted its strength in the field of energy and chemical industry, but also further expanded its business field and set foot in water resources development and development.

This innovative model provides a new way of thinking about China's water allocation. It not only embodies the concept of resource sharing and comprehensive utilization, but also provides a feasible solution to solve China's unique geographical and environmental problems. At the same time, this is also the embodiment of Pingmei Group's active fulfillment of social responsibility while pursuing enterprise development. Through such projects, enterprises can not only achieve economic benefits, but also bring practical benefits to society.
