In the daily office process, we often encounter all kinds of strange failures in the printer, and sometimes we may not be able to find a solution by using various strategies on the network to check one by one, which is really a headache.
Today, Xiaoyu will share with you a stubborn printing failure that you have encountered recently, and the corresponding solutions.
One of the company's Win7 computers needed to share the printer connected to another Win11 system, but for some reason it was not successful. In the end, it was decided to connect the printer directly to the win7 computer, and then share it so that the win11 computer can also be used. But after the previous repeated operation,The printer that could have been connected to the win7 system for normal use has a failure and cannot print,The specific fault phenomenon is as follows:
1. When using the "Print Test Page" function through the printer properties in the control panel, the printer does not respond and the error box of "Windows Explorer has stopped working" appears
2. Enter any content in Word and then click to print, the error dialog box of "print drive host for 32bit applications has stopped working" appears, and the printer cannot be used normally;
In short, any software on your computer that needs to print will always have an error message about the application stopping working.
Because this computer can be connected to the printer smoothly before, it is only after repeated operations with win11 computers that such a problem occurs, and the print-related service items in the windows service are started normally.
In this case, it can be judged that the printer driver is the problem.
Therefore, after uninstalling the printer software and driver in the system, then find the official driver of the printer and reinstall it, but the fault is still there.
After many references, it was finally determined that such a failure was caused by a printer driver error, so it was necessary to solve this problem from the perspective of the driver.
In fact, although I tried to uninstall the driver in the previous solution, the previous driver and cache files were not completely deleted, so the driver file conflict caused the failure.
After finding the reason, just completely delete the cache file of the previously installed driver and then reinstall the official driver.
Open the explorer of the computer, locate the directory "C: Windows System32 Spool Drivers" from the C drive, and you can see that the printer drivers installed in the computer are here.
If your computer is a 32-bit system, click on the [w32x86] folder to enter, if your computer system is 64-bit, click [x64] to enter, and then delete all the files under the [3] folder.
Clear all the files here and reinstall the official driver of the printer, the problem is solved.
More than 95% of the faults in the printer are related to the driver, and in general, reinstalling the driver can solve the problem. If the problem persists after installing the printer driver, it is recommended to locate the "C: Windows System32 Spool Drivers" directory from the C drive and delete some of the previously installed drivers and cache files generated during use.
