Barra Mountain Logging
Dictation: Mi Yuxian, Finishing: Chen Falin.
The last time I told my comrades-in-arms the story of Cuomei's business trip and Mondara's martyrdom, I received greetings, encouragement and praise from many comrades-in-arms back then. This deeply touched me, who has been suffering from Parkinson's disease for many years. Although I have difficulty in writing, I am fortunate to have a good memory, so I entrusted Comrade Chen Falin, deputy political commander of the 1st Company of the 5th Battalion of the former side, to sort it out on my behalf, and I look forward to sharing it with all my new and old comrades-in-arms. )
The twin brother of Bala Mountain, the Kajiu Temple on the Kajiu Mountain in Lakang Township (photographed by Yang Changqian and provided by Yang Changqian).
In November 1976, it was another cold winter in Loza County. The snowflakes on Mount Barra seem to fall a little earlier than usual. At that time, I was the deputy company commander of the 2nd Company of Bianba of the 8th Battalion of Bianba, and suddenly received an urgent task of construction and logging from the battalion commander Hu Dingzhong (a native of Dayi County, Sichuan, enlisted in the army) from the battalion commander: to lead a reinforced platoon detachment composed of 25 people, carrying ** equipment and necessary field accommodation facilities, to enter the forest of Bala Mountain to cut wood, and to prepare materials for the construction of barracks by the 2nd Company of Bianba Township next year. The company is also responsible for the logistical support of the logging detachment, and the battalion logistics is given the necessary preference in communication tools, logging equipment, grain, oil, and non-staple food. The military order is like a mountain, I did not hesitate, after a selection of troops and the preparation of food, we did not hesitate, embarked on the journey, towards Bala Mountain.
Bala Mountain is located in the middle of the 72nd turn of Lakang Township and Bianba Township in Luozha County, and is the northernmost edge of the primeval forest of the Sino-Bhutan border in Luozha County, and it is also the highest forest area with the highest altitude. The two mountains and rivers of Bala Mountain in Bianba Township and Kajiu Mountain in Lakang Township are connected, the straight-line distance in the air is only a few kilometers, the two mountains are high in the east and low in the west, the mountain form is similar, the forest timber species and the wild animals and plants in the forest are basically the same, just like a pair of twin brothers, looking at each other across the stream, and the two males face each other side by side. The summit of Mount Kaju is famous for its Kajiu Monastery and is said to be one of the five sacred places of Tibetan Buddhism master Padmasambhava. Here perennial Tibetan incense lingering, Sanskrit melodious, believers rub shoulders one after another, visitors come one after another, Kajiu Mountain is stained with a few parts of Buddha nature, dyed a few parts of the cheesy. In contrast, Mount Barra seems to have retained more of a primitive, rugged, wild and furious pretense.
According to the customs of the local inhabitants of Loza, all alpine activities, including deforestation, are not appropriate in winter, and in their words, the alpine meadows and woodlands at this time belong to the carnival of the snow gods, and humans must stay away. Even the summer and autumn grazing shacks on the high-quality pastures of the Minjiuma and Baiyu areas on the border line between China and Bhutan have been emptied, and the cattle, sheep and herdsmen are on the way back, and the area of hundreds of square kilometers on the border line is basically completely empty at this time. Snowflakes fall every day over the forests of Bala Mountain, as if the snow god is really warming up before the carnival, and there is a quiet and eerie atmosphere in the air. Everyone else is coming down the mountain, but we are going up the mountain in the wind and snow. There is only one thought in everyone's minds, to get to the destination as soon as possible, to start work as soon as possible, and to complete the logging task as soon as possible.
As the saying goes, interlacing is like separating mountains. When a hand that is usually accustomed to wielding a gun and wielding a gun suddenly picks up a long firewood knife, a heavy axe, and a grinning hacksaw in the damp, cold, and freezing ice and snow environment of the harsh winter, many officers and men will inevitably feel confused in their hearts. Especially for more than one meter long saw, the saws at both ends must have a high degree of tacit understanding of heart, hand and force, closely cooperate with push and pull, and maintain a horizontal angle in order to use freely, otherwise the saw will be crooked, the light will be stuck, and the heavy will cause safety accidents.
For most of the new warriors from the northern plains, water network areas, and lack of experience in deforestation, the rough giant axe and stubborn hacksaw are like a pair of untamed steel monsters, dedicated to fighting against the pilot. In the first few days, due to a lack of experience and logistical errors, tents and pressure cookers, which are essential for survival and living in high-altitude areas, were not distributed in a timely manner, resulting in the general sleep of the soldiers being affected, the quality of their diet was poor, their physical strength could not keep up for a while, and the progress of felling was slow. In order to complete the task as soon as possible, the soldiers were anxious, using brute force, brute force, blood blisters in the palms of their hands, and the skin and flesh of the tiger's mouth were cracked, but they still insisted on working. At that time, band-aids and the like had not yet been born, for the general small wounds, the soldiers were cut and pasted with rolled medical tape, and then continued to swing the axe and saw, but the brute force that did not have the essentials caused the knife, the axe, the saw, the phenomenon of the saw, it was really not fast, and the soldiers did not work with the axe and axe, not cut and embedded, and it took a lot of effort to pull out the axe;Over there, it was twisted and skewed, and even stuck the saw blade, so I had to pull it hard, open another saw edge, and start all over again. Everyone is in a hurry, and the busier they are, the more chaotic they become. This is a waste of labor and time. I see it in my eyes and am anxious in my heart, the logging team does not lack courage and strength, and what is most lacking is experience and masters.
Therefore, I immediately sent the idea to the carpentry class of the battalion headquarters and asked the battalion commander to immediately second, two "master-level" soldiers of the class, Yang Qiutai and Wang Shuntao, to enrich and strengthen the combat effectiveness of the logging squad. Without hesitation, the battalion commander immediately agreed. With these two people joining, the master devoted himself to teaching, without reservation, and the apprentice worked in school, doing and learning, and soon reversed the unfavorable situation of being a teacher at the beginning. The amount of logging has risen steadily. I have also vigorously done a good job in safety education, formulated strict work measures, strictly divided the operation area for each team according to the daily work tasks, left a safe distance, and required every soldier to be both a combatant and a safety officer, to discover and eliminate all potential safety hazards at any time, and to strictly prohibit uphill and downhill overlapping and cross-regional operations. Strict security measures have effectively guaranteed the lives and health of the soldiers. Coupled with the concern and care for logistics support at both the company and battalion levels, the logging team was full of spirit and morale. Everyone braved the wind and snow, not afraid of hardships, optimistic and open-minded, every time it was time to work, the sound of knives and axes, the sound of saws, the sound of trumpets, and the singing, one after another in the ravine and dense forest, echoed with each other, bringing a burst of dynamism and warm colors to the quiet Bala Mountain in winter. In the process of sharing weal and woe with the soldiers, I have also continuously improved and accumulated the ability and experience of leading troops, managing troops, and using troops in urgent, dangerous, and difficult environments.
The road is lost, and the old horse relies on good judgment; The soldiers fell into the ice cave, and the scientific rescue set the frightened soul".
After nearly a month of hard work, as the New Year's Day was approaching, battalion commander Hu Dingzhong and political commissar Xie Guangyu (from Shuangliu County, Sichuan, enlisted in the army in 1955) decided to work heavily on the logging team of the 2nd Company, and informed the new secretary Zhang Lianggong (from Gansu, enlisted in 1969) who had just been transferred to the 2nd Company in Bianba Township to organize a five-man team to go to the battalion headquarters to receive logistics supplies. The battalion headquarters is about 35 kilometers away from the 2nd Company, and because it has to climb 72 turns, it usually takes 7 hours for manpower to walk, and about 10 hours for the horse team. However, Zhang Gang was transferred from a foreign unit to the 2nd Company, and the road conditions were not familiar, so he returned to Bianba Township from the battalion headquarters, and was supposed to cross the river from Lakang Township to the 72nd turn and walk to the right to climb the small hill beam to return to the company, but when he went down the 72nd turn, he turned left instead of the river and walked on the Qilu Road, and marched towards the Minjiuma area on the Sino-non-border border. In the afternoon of the same day, he was supposed to return to the company station in Bianba Township at 17 o'clock, but after another hour, there was no figure of the team.
At this time, the battalion headquarters and the ** of the logging squad just got through. When I'm in** When I heard the battalion commander request to immediately send a team of 5 people to search and rescue along the relevant suspicious lost paths, I immediately made a correct judgment: the secretary general may have been confused by the 72 turns, and he should have waded into the river immediately after crossing the 72 turns (the water is very shallow, people and animals can cross on foot, and after crossing the river, he can turn right to reach Bianba Township, but if he crosses the 72 turns and turns left directly without crossing the river, then he will step on the pasture road that the border herdsmen will only take in the summer and autumn season, and go straight to the direction of the Jiuma Grassland of the border people, at this time the sky has slowly turned dark. If the lost packer is not found before dark, the consequences will be catastrophic. Without hesitation, I immediately took a deputy platoon commander and three other soldiers, and before I even had time to eat dinner, I took a shortcut down the mountain and hurried in the direction of Minjiuma. The ensuing rescue experience completely confirmed that my judgment was correct.
Three hours later, when it was dark, we met the secretary and his party on the rugged mountain road leading to the Minjuma Alpine Pasture. After they got lost, the mountain road became narrower and narrower, and the ice and snow in the mountains became thicker and thicker, and in the end there was no way out. Although night fell relatively late in Tibet, when the lost people were rescued, they were still descending in the dark on the rugged and steep sheep intestine trail in the mountains at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters, and there were still dangers along the way. After going through many hardships, I finally went down to the foot of Bala Mountain, and after I repeatedly pointed out the topographical points and precautions leading to Bianba Township along the way, the team led by the secretary finally returned safely that night.
"The judgment of the wrong way is correct, and the loss of the way is meritorious;Ignoring the necessities of rescue almost made a big mistake".
This is my summary of the experience and lessons learned from this night rescue battle. We were overjoyed to find the Secretary General and the caravan. After escorting them to safety and familiarization, they returned safely to the camp at midnight. Our five-member rescue team was in distress on the way back to the Barra Hill logging team. Due to the cold weather, the slippery road at night, and the combination of freezing and hunger, Zhou Mingsheng, a soldier who enlisted in the army in Lankao County in 1974, accidentally fell into an ice cave several meters deep. Due to the lack of experience in mountain rescue, we hurried on the road before setting off, except for a submachine gun and a few tracer bullets for night communication, and did not bring anything else such as machetes, ropes (backpack straps), matches, and even water and dry food. Because the space of the ice cave is too small, people above the cave cannot go down, and there are no machetes to cut trees to act as ladders or roped backpack straps to rescue people from danger. Time passed minute by minute, and Zhou Mingsheng's situation became more and more dangerous. Those who save people need to be saved!I feel deeply annoyed and remorseful for my carelessness and recklessness. After calming down a little, I was in a hurry and hurriedly sent several flash bombs to the top of the logging team for help. Soon after, reinforcements arrived, and only then did Zhou Mingsheng, who was conscious but frozen, unsteady on his feet, unable to speak, out of the ice cave. Under the correct guidance of the hygienist, everyone found snow and rubbed it repeatedly to help restore body temperature, avoiding secondary injuries caused by improper and wrong rescue. After a short rest, Zhou Mingsheng's physical functions quickly returned to normal and he returned to logging work. As the saying goes: If you don't die, there will be a blessing, and a few months later, Zhou Mingsheng unexpectedly won the title of "the luckiest person in the world" (this is a later story, not for the time being).
After nearly three months of hard work, the logging team overfulfilled the tasks assigned by the battalion headquarters in the early stage, which mainly focused on cutting down whole trees and sawing into sections of logs, and transferred to the mid-term unloading and cutting work. This seems to be more energy-saving than the whole tree felling, the safety risk is also small, but its technical content is higher, the difficulty of the work is also greater, according to the material to take the material, hang accurately, play the ink line, build a sawing machine, carry the material on the shelf, fixed cutting, up and down the saw hand to cooperate, interlocking, pay attention to experience and technology, a little careless, then the previous efforts are wasted. At this time, Yang Qiutai and Wang Shuntao, the two "masters", played a leading role as the helmsman. With their enthusiastic repeated demonstrations and hand-in-hand help, the technology of the wire saw board has made rapid progress. After more than three months of struggle, the soldiers cut and sawed out various types of plates of different specifications according to the needs of building houses, and piled them up like a mountain. Our logging team is full of accomplishment and pride!
As the seasons change, the snow melts, and before we know it, we have been in the mountains for half a year! The forest seems to wake up in one night, the spring flowers are blooming, the colorful azalea trees are all over the mountain, from the foot of the mountain, the relay from low to high is in full bloom, the birds are singing, the forest musk deer is infested, the little squirrel is lively and active, perhaps it has long been accustomed to our existence, not timid at all, free shuttle inside and outside our tent, and the nine-colored brown-tailed rainbow pheasant in the forest can be seen at any time. Bala Mountain is a treasure trove of forests, rich in Korean pine, cypress, white birch, green bar, alpine rhododendron and other endemic tree species, the forest is full of pineapple, rich in Ganoderma lucidum, matsutake mushroom, yellow fungus (also known as red snow fungus, the first choice of Tibetan medicine for tuberculosis) and other understory treasures. Bala Mountain is also a paradise for wild animals and plants, the mountain is rich in all kinds of precious Chinese medicine, Tibetan medicinal plants such as fritillary, angelica, codonopsis, gastrodia, rhodiola, gentian, seven-leaf artemisia (highly toxic, not to be taken internally, but to rheumatism, poisonous sores, ringworm has a special effect). The wildlife of Barra Hill includes Bengal tigers, black bears, forest musk deer (roe deer), nine-colored brown-tailed rainbow pheasants, thrushes, turtle doves, wild pigeon flocks and many more. The abundant charm of Bala Mountain, a treasure land of feng shui, has further inspired the infinite love of our border soldiers for the beautiful rivers and mountains of the motherland.

In May, the battle to carry the plates down the mountain officially began. Although the logging and dismantling point is slightly higher than the altitude of the company station in Bianba Township, the whole journey between the two places is about 20 kilometers, and one person can only make one round trip a day. On the way to transport materials to pass through a pass, after the pass and climb a section of yellow clay slope again, one up and down, very laborious, especially in the encounter of large pieces such as beam purlins and trusses, must be carried together by several people, but also pay attention to cooperation, as long as one person can not insist, it is necessary to stop and rest and adjust, otherwise it is very easy to cause crushing accidents. When encountering sharp bends and steep slopes, you can only put down the timber and carefully erect it upside down. In order to transport the timber out before the heavy snow closed the mountain, the soldiers got up early in the morning, braved the scorching sun, completely ignored the strong ultraviolet scorching, everyone had thick calluses on their shoulders and backs, and their faces were sunburned with a layer of black hard shell and cracked out of the tunnel, and the skin and flesh of the wounds were black and red, which was really miserable. This is even more difficult than logging in the depths of winter, and it tests the physical endurance and willpower of the warriors. When the logging team returned to the establishment, almost everyone had a black skin on their faces, and they were itchy and painful when the black skin fell off, and they could not recover their original appearance for half a year, so that many comrades-in-arms did not dare to take pictures during this half year, for fear that their families would worry, and their girlfriends would blow out the lights. It's so emotional! As the leader of the team, I am both moved and distressed!I still remember it vividly. As the saying goes, the train runs fast because of the headband. At that time, I was young and vigorous, and I took the lead in everything, so in the mantra of the soldiers, Mi Da Du (tall), Iron Waist (Strength), and Fan Da Belly (large amount of food) were all nicknames given to me by the soldiers of the logging team. Don't dislike these titles, sometimes they can play a full role of positive energy. On the night of looking for Secretary Zhang Lianggong, he led the team to set off because he didn't have time to eat dinner, and in the middle of the night, he was so hungry that he almost fainted from hunger. Fortunately, the cook knew that the rice belly usually has a large amount of food, and when I sent a signal for help that night, he specially prepared a big bowl of rice for me and sent it to the rescue site, so that I had to enjoy it exclusively. It was precisely with this bowl of rice that I was able to shake my spirits and support myself to return to the camp. At that time, the comrades-in-arms were dedicated to defending the country, no matter how hard and tired they were, they were all willing to do their duty, and the figure and image of "desperate Saburo" were still so vivid and vivid, and they still made me teary-eyed.
Speaking of the hardships and tiredness endured by the soldiers, there are two points that particularly impress me and are sour.
One is nature's gift: bloodsucking ticks. Usually this guy lives by sucking the blood of poultry and animals, and is very greedy, when it shriveled up before sucking blood, it only has a thin skin cavity, less than 1g in weight, and the body can swell several times more than after sucking blood. Because Bala Mountain is located in the edge of the forest, the pasture grass is luxuriant, and it belongs to the perennial wild pasture of the herdsmen of Bianba and Lakang Township, so there are many ticks on the mountain. If it is pulled out forcefully when it sucks blood, and accidentally breaks its suction head in the **, it will be inflamed and painful, and the ulcer will be difficult to heal, which is very annoying. But it is afraid of heat, as long as it is hot with fire, it immediately pulls out the suction tip and falls on its own.
The second is human error. The main reason why I want to make this point out of the original intention of "never forgetting the past and being a teacher of the future." Deputy Political Commissar Huang (from Ziyang, Sichuan, enlisted in the army in 1956), who was in charge of the logistics work of the battalion headquarters at that time, was born as a confidential staff officer, lived indoors for a long time and was engaged in confidential work, lacked experience in the wilderness, and did not fully understand the ** In the early days when the logging detachment went up the mountain, it was clear that the battalion headquarters had a number of tents for field patrols, but he refused to distribute them on the grounds that they were war materials, but each person was given a duck down sleeping bag, and the soldiers were forced to sleep on the ice in the open air every night for the first week. Except for the snow falling from the sentry soldiers, every morning, the soldiers woke up from their sleep, each sleeping bag covered with a thick layer of snow. Deputy Political Commissar Huang also directed the officers and soldiers of the logging squad to reenact an epic scene of lying on ice and drinking snow in Emperor Wu of Wei's poem "Bitter Cold Xing" nearly 2,000 years agoIf the logging task has just been issued, the pressure cooker is a rare and fragile item, **scarce, and the battalion cannot solve it by itself, but it should also be actively applied for in advance. But he said: There is a lot of firewood on the mountain, and if you burn it for a while, the rice will be cooked. In this way, the warriors ate raw meals on the mountain for nearly twenty days. Even so, our fighters endured, endured, and endured!Work hard, work hard, work hard!Aren't such fighters worthy of our more care and help?Until one day, I couldn't bear it anymore, I couldn't bear it anymore, I couldn't watch my warriors suffer and suffer from inaction and inaction, and I myself went with the flow and did nothing. At my repeated requests, Deputy Political Commissar Huang finally came up the mountain. I asked the cook to burn the iron pot over a high fire in front of him, boiled the bamboo shoots for several hours, and fried a plate of pork from the pot, forcing him to eat with us on the mountain, so that he could experience the taste of sandwiched rice and lettuce, but he bit so much saliva that splashed tears in his eyes, and he couldn't swallow. Only then did they hurriedly return to the camp and actively apply to the military sub-district, and soon the pressure cooker allocated by the quartermaster department was delivered, and the soldiers said goodbye to the pain of eating raw rice with lettuce, and ended the embarrassment of physiological overdraft of less than 70% of each meal's nutritional intake and 12 cents a day.
Speaking of which, I do not intend to criticize and criticize any of the old leaders and seniors of the 8th Battalion, who also devoted a lot of effort and sweat to the work of the logging detachment back then. I just want to tell people the lessons and lessons in this regard: The focus of all the work of the troops, including logistical work, must be aimed at serving the soldiers and serving the frontline, and being anxious to meet their needs and helping them what they need is always an iron law that can be ignored and violated, and must not be ignored or violated at any time. Although Deputy Political Commissar Huang made mistakes in low-level administrative decision-making at the beginning due to laymen leading insiders, he later learned that he could correct his mistakes and actively applied for and distributed all kinds of emergency equipment to the logging team.
"The best collision of two worlds".
Bala Mountain is indeed a rare piece of Feng Shui treasure, and wonderful things happen every day. This brings a bit of humor, a bit of surprise, and of course, a bit of good luck to our hard-working, painstaking and arduous work on the logging and deforestation series. Presumably everyone still remembers the soldier Zhou Mingsheng who mentioned the "catastrophe does not die" earlier, but this "must have a blessing", even he and his comrades-in-arms, no one expected it to come so quickly, and he was also awarded the title of "the luckiest person in the world" by his comrades-in-arms.
It was an afternoon in May, Zhou Mingsheng, who has always been diligent and active, practical and hard-working, completed the task of carrying wood in advance, he wanted to return to the mountain station early and rest, so he chose a shortcut that few people usually walk, and walked briskly. However, after many days of heavy physical exertion, he was too tired, and as soon as he walked to a place covered by grass and bushes, a thought suddenly came to his heart, the grass here is dense, suitable for sitting down and half-lying rest, why not take the opportunity to take a break for a while, so he sat down and ...... above the grassSuddenly, there was a commotion on his back, Zhou Mingsheng was taken aback, and his backhand was grabbed and caught, and he actually picked up an elderly male roe deer who was panicked and kept shaking. It turns out that the roe deer has the habit of taking a nap in the wild, but its sleeping position is like the legendary ostrich burying its head in the sand pile in distress, taking care of its head. This roe deer is to put its head and body into a small shallow hole in the soil bag, and hide the back half of its body in the grass outside the soil hole. As soon as Zhou Mingsheng's buttocks sat down, he happened to block the male roe deer in the hole and couldn't move, so he took advantage of the situation to grab a backhand, and it justifiably achieved the "luckiest person in the world" in the eyes of his comrades-in-arms, and this "stupidest roe deer in the world", in addition to dedicating his precious sachet "Tuotuo" to the lucky ones, needless to say, the officers and soldiers of the logging squad also had a delicious feast. The forest musk deer is now a national second-class protected animal, and it is not allowed to be hunted at will, but at that time in the seventies, China had not yet promulgated the regulations on wildlife protection, so Zhou Mingsheng captured the roe deer with his bare hands, which was not illegal, and perhaps there was the favor of the gods of Bala Mountain for him and the logging team. If it were placed today, it would of course be illegal.
"A hundred years of vicissitudes of ancient watchtowers, witness the history of Tibetan frontiers".
The existing Zhao Erfeng century-old watchtower in Bianba Township, Luozha County.
Luozha County Mendeng Township Zhao Erfeng century-old watchtower.
Located at the foot of Bala Mountain and the intersection of 72 turns not far from the slope of the hillside, there are several ancient watchtowers that have experienced the vicissitudes of life, which was built by Zhao Erfeng more than 100 years ago when he was in power. It's a unique sight. It is said that there were troops equivalent to a regiment in Luozha ditch back then, and the watchtower group was the regimental headquarters of that year. In the last century.
In the 70s and 80s, I also came into contact with several of Zhao Erfeng's former subordinates who were left in the area of Shenge Township, claiming to be from Wenjiang, Sichuan, and some of them had married wives and had children here, and were completely Tibetanized. Some have never married and are lonely for the rest of their lives. According to Yue Wei, commander of the former 5th Battalion, when he was serving as a training staff officer of the 5th Battalion, he had for a long time helped a veteran of the former dynasty who lived alone next to the Maila Mountain Mill in the 1st Company of the Bianbian, and he felt that these people were outcasts of the stormy era and victims of a weak country that had lost its borders. Their plight deserves sympathy. There are still dozens of watchtowers scattered in the territory of Loza, some of them are still very solid, magnificent, after a hundred years of wind and rain without falling, can not help but make people feel emotional. Zhao Erfeng is another tragic figure who is the most controversial and tragic figure in the history of China's southwestern frontier in modern times, but we should fully affirm his historical achievements. The relics of Zhao Erfeng's border defense are said to have been scattered far away in many areas south of the wheat line. More than 100 years ago, we were able to have this vision and experience, and expand the living space for the descendants of the Han and Tibetan people of the Chinese nation, which cannot but be said to be much broader and far-reaching than the broad-minded vision of some so-called elites today. Trace the ancient and modern watchtowers, and remember the distant Bala Mountain. I was deeply shocked by the courage and courage of my ancestors who have gradually disappeared with the long river of history, and I am even more proud to be a new Luozha border person. It is worth drawing our attention to the fact that there is now a phenomenon of disrespect for history on the Internet. There are a lot of travel friends who have made a crown Li Dai, and the watchtower built by Zhao Erfeng led the troops to move flowers and grafts into the castle of the old lord, and even planted a long forest for hundreds of miles on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, all of which were attributed to the local people, and the vast number of officers and soldiers stationed in various regions of Tibet have been dispatched during the Arbor Day over the years, and their persistence and dedication for decades have been written off. Our people's soldiers have always been regardless of gains and losses, and they do not fight for their reputations, and no one will go to court with any traveler for this. But I think that these not-so-distant histories have become unrecognizable to the younger generation, and the so-called "neither donkey nor horse" is the case. As a participant and witness, if you don't say or write, I don't say or write, and everyone doesn't say or write, you will face the danger of distortion, misrepresentation and loss. Could it be that after another hundred years, our cause will repeat the fate of the owner of the watchtower castle? If we want to destroy our country, we must first go to its history." On the other hand, if we do not attach importance to history and do not learn from history and learn from history the laws of success and failure, gain and loss, and rise and fall, we will have no future for a person, an army, a nation, or a country. We must be vigilant.
Long-term garrison of the border, can not be without barracks (housing). The officers and men of the 2nd Bianba Company stayed in the simple adobe houses built by the old-timers of the 3rd Bian Regiment in the 50s of the last century. Thanks to the all-out sprint of the logging detachment and the full cooperation of the officers and men of the whole company, by September, the work of preparing materials for the new barracks in advance was completed as scheduled, and by October, the new barracks were successfully completed, and by the end of December, all the supporting facilities for training and defensive operations had also passed the acceptance of the higher authorities. The officers and men of the 2nd Bian Company rushed to move to their new homes before the arrival of New Year's Day. Although the new house has the same adobe walls, the roof is covered with new galvanized iron sheets, and the interior space is more spacious and bright than the old adobe house. The living conditions of the officers and men of the company have been greatly improved. My logging team and I finally returned safely with all our crews. In the later appraisal and awarding work, Yang Ruzhao and Zhou Rong, two deputy platoon commanders, and more than 10 soldiers, including soldiers Zhou Mingsheng, Yang Qiutai, and Wang Shuntao, were commended by the battalion, and the rest of the personnel were also commended by the company. The logging story of Bala Mountain has finally come to a successful conclusion.
Postscript:Yang Ruzhao and Zhou Rong, the two deputy platoon commanders, have a strong sense of responsibility for work, strong organizational and leadership ability, set an example and have a good work style, can manage, can lead soldiers, and can do ideological and political work among soldiers. Yang Qiutai, a native of southern Sichuan County, enlisted in the army in 1973, at the beginning of 1978, when I was transferred to the deputy commander of the 4th Company, the head of the operation agreed, and he went to Myla Mountain with me again, and served as the "chief carpentry instructor" of the logging team of the 4th company of Shenge, because of his outstanding performance, he was soon approved by his superiors to be transferred to volunteer soldiers, and served in the army for 13 years, and changed jobs in 1986. )
