Luo Canran

Today, let's walk into her story together.

Luo Canran, graduated from Taiyuan Foreign Chinese School in high school, is a 2020 undergraduate student of the French Department of the School of Foreign Chinese of Nanjing University, and has been admitted to the experimental class of international legal talents of China University of Political Science and Law. He has won honors such as the People's Scholarship in 2021 and 2022. In terms of student work, he has served as a member of the Career Development Committee, Life Committee, Psychology Committee, and Publicity Committee of the French class. In terms of discipline competitions, he has won the first prize in the LSCAT Cup Jiangsu Translation Competition, the Excellence Award in French Translation, and the third prize in the Youth Innovative Translation Competition. In terms of scientific research practice, he participated in the first International Organization Competency Competition (French group) and wrote a summary report. In addition, she participated in the exchange program of Université Paris Cité in France, France, where she went to France for an exchange Xi academic year, during which most of the courses achieved A standards.

The seeds of dreams break through the ground

The essence of education means that one tree shakes another, one cloud pushes another, and one soul awakens another. Luo Canran's choice of Nanjing University was mainly influenced by the previous seniors, and their recommendations awakened Luo Canran's yearning for Nanjing University. At that time, when the school organized seniors to come back to share their experiences, they all had a high opinion of NTU. The description of Xi and life at Nan University planted a small seed in Luo Canran's heart. At the same time,Both the social recognition and the faculty of the Nan** language major are among the best in the countrySo Luo Canran secretly decided at that time that he must go all out to let the seeds in his heart grow into the shoots of reality.

During the preparation for the escort exam, in order to make up for his lack of oral expression, Luo Canran specially found an international student in the local area to improve his oral proficiency through dialogue with him. In the process of communication, her hearing level has also improved a lot. Therefore, she suggested that students who want to learn a foreign language well must cherish the resources of native speakers, whether it is offline face-to-face communication or online communication, it will be of great benefit to the improvement of their speaking level.

"Linguistics Xi a lifelong Xiprogram".

Referring to the reason for Xi studying French as a major subject, Luo Canran explained that it was a coincidence, "I didn't have a particularly strong desire to learn French Xi at the beginning, but I was admitted. Like some non-English speaking students, Luo Canran began to learn French in a Xi Chinese school in a state of ignorance. Three years of junior high school, three years of high school, and four years of college, the ten-year precipitation not only allowed Luo Canran to master a foreign language, but also gave her a new understanding of the language itself at every stage of her Xi.

"Learning endlessly" is Luo Canran's biggest feeling. Although he has been studying French for 10 years and may continue to study Xi in graduate school, Luo believes that there is a gap between non-native speakers and native speakers in the Xi of linguistics, and the former needs to improve continuously and long-term. During her exchange at Université Paris Cité in Paris, France, she found that although her spoken French was not bad, when communicating with the locals, the other party would deliberately slow down her speech or use some easy-to-understand expressions. When communicating with the staff of local medical insurance, banks and other institutions, it is clear that they have learned the words and expressions, but in the actual use process, there will still be various puzzles.

Therefore, in fact, language needs to be constantly learned, Xi and constantly looking for opportunities to use it, in fact, it is a lifelong process of learning Xi.

At the same time, Luo Canran thinksXi linguistic learning is also a process of rising in stages. "You feel like you're making a lot of progress during this time, but after a while it's going to stagnate again, and that's when you reach a bottleneckIf you can break through this period, you will make progress for a while, and then get stuck in the bottleneck period, and so on. This is another lesson that Luo Canran learned in the process of learning Xi French, and this cycle has been in place since she began to learn French ten years ago. In the midst of the joy of progress and the anguish of stagnation, she found a way to motivate herself – to sign up for the DALF exam. Under the supervision of specific goals, Luo Canran will focus on systematically learning and re-Xi Xi relevant knowledge for a period of time. More importantly, during this time, she will devote herself to the state of language learning and Xi. "If I didn't have a state, I would feel like I'm a lot more alien to the language. ”

At the same time, Luo Canran also suggested to the younger studentsIt is necessary to cherish the opportunity of exchange Xi and carry out immersion Xi in the corresponding language environment as much as possible. Moreover, in such a context, it is necessary not only to learn Xi language, but also to understand the social culture, customs and customs of a country. It is with these factors in mind that Luo Canran did not give much consideration to unfavorable factors such as the impact of the epidemic when he applied for an exchange Xi in his junior year, but still chose an exchange program for one academic year. "I think half a year may be a bit rushed for me, but for language improvement, interest exploration, and future path selection, an academic year is more suitable for me. ”

Keep trying, keep exploring

Compared with students who have already chosen a minor or interprofessional Xi direction in their freshman year, Luo Canran University has been in a relatively confused stage in the first two years - there is no clear interdisciplinary bias, and he is ignorant of his future plans. "But I feel that confusion is confusion, and the pace of progress cannot be stopped. ”So at this stage, she decided to grasp her professional courses first. As a high-starting foreign language student, Luo Canran is the only person in the 2020 French class who is not exempted from the "Elementary French" course. In this class, she learned Xi French vocabulary and grammar from scratch and gained a lot from it. At the same time, in her freshman and sophomore years, Luo Canran also completed all the 14 credits of general education courses and compulsory general courses such as classical reading, preparing for her junior year abroad exchange Xi. In the end, Luo Canran chose to study comparative law at China University of Political Science and Law interdisciplinary because of this exchange experience.

During his exchange at the University of Cité in Paris, France, Luo Canran studied in the Faculty of Humanities, which included three majors: literature, art, and filmShe tried a lot and chose courses in linguistics, comparative literature, and film studies, which she was interested in. But in the actual study and Xi, she gradually found that there are still some gaps between ideals and realityThose majors that interest you may not necessarily be right for you.

In fact, learning Xi equivalent to a marathon, not a sprint, and we can constantly discover new interests and new selves based on the scenery we see along the way.

Participation in the Cannes Film Festival.

In the second semester of his exchange Xi in France, Luo Canran signed up for the "International Organization Competency Competition" with several French students and a senior from the ** School of Management, responsible for studying some of UNESCO's measures in the field of World Heritage conservation and sustainable tourism. In the process of writing the literature review, she and her classmates consulted the literature on political science, law, and other professional literature, and gradually discovered that this aspect of the matter was actually very interesting, and it was also an area that she had never thought of exploring before. So, in June 2023, after finishing the exchange Xi in France, Luo Canran plunged into the library and began the resumption of Xi of law courses.

For Luo Canran, who had never thought of studying Xi law, it was a very difficult time, in addition to memorizing and understanding the relevant legal knowledge, and at the same time to further consolidate his French expertise. "Because comparative law is mainly based on language as a carrier, analyzing the laws of different countries and regions in different time frames, this major hopes to recruit some students whose undergraduate majors are non-English speakers, and the assessment will also focus on language ability. After intense preparation, Luo Canran participated in the written exams and interviews of summer camps in seven schools, and finally chose to go to the experimental class of international legal talents at China University of Political Science and Law for postgraduate Xi.

In the first semester of his senior year, Luo CanranNot only did I take courses that I found interesting such as Korean, but I also sketched a clear outline for my career planning. "I wanted to work in Africa because it was a completely foreign place to me and I had the desire to explore it. Getting to know the local people was the main reason why she wanted to work in Africa. At the same time, for jobs that combine French and law, as a new market, the salary and career development space in Africa are also important factors for Luo Canran to consider.

At the experience sharing meeting, we shared our experience with the younger students.

What I want to say to my juniors

First of all, I want to tell the younger students of my alma mater, don't beautify the road you have not taken. If you have the intention of escorting or have already successfully escorted it, don't think about it anymore and go on firmly!Xi a foreign language can bring you a broader horizon and richer opportunities, and it is a guide to lead you to explore the world.

Second, learn to be your own ruler. College is a stage full of infinite possibilities, you have to learn to allocate your time, learn to regulate your emotions, learn to deal with various relationships, and learn to focus on your own path. Work hard for yourself and don't need to be too anxious.

Finally, never give up trying and exploring. Stay curious, learn Xi widely, and enjoy the fun of knowledge on the long road of learning Xi. You should also plan your future according to the actual situation, find what you are interested in, and let yourself shine in the field you love.

I wish you all a fulfilling and meaningful university life and run towards the future you are looking forward to!
