On December 22, it was reported that in order to promote the standardization of artificial intelligence model as a service (MaaS) field and promote industrial development, at the just-concluded plenary meeting of the Artificial Intelligence Subcommittee of the National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee, the "Artificial Intelligence Model as a Service (MaaS) Reference Architecture" standard document was formally discussed and started to compile, and the follow-up will continue to promote the basis for becoming the domestic model as a service, among which, Alibaba Cloud has become the technical leader of the standard preparation.
In the past year, large-scale model technology and products have changed with each passing day, and the market demand for model-as-a-service (MaaS) has increased. It is understood that this standard document gives the reference architecture of Model as a Service (MASS), stipulates the main activities of MaaS providers, model users, model and data providers, and infrastructure providers, and regulates the main functional layers, functional components and interfaces of MaaS, which is suitable for the construction, application, implementation and maintenance of Model as a Service and its application system.
Alibaba Cloud, as the first enterprise to put forward the concept of Model as a Service (MaaS), has become the technical leader of the standard. In October 2022, Alibaba Cloud proposed the concept of MaaS for the first time in the industry and released the AI model community "Magic Ride".A year later, MaaS became an important technical direction for cloud vendors to upgrade to the AI era, and Microsoft, Tencent, and other vendors followed suit, and "Magic Ride" became the largest model community in China, with the number of developers exceeding 2.8 million and the number of models exceeding 100 million. The Artificial Intelligence Model as a Service (MaaS) Reference Architecture standard document integrates Alibaba Cloud's extensive experience in MaaS service practices.
At the same meeting, Alibaba Cloud, as the joint technical leader, also carried out working group discussions on the national standard proposal of "Technical Requirements for Artificial Intelligence Open Source Model Service Platform" and entered the preparation process. The proposal gives the overall architecture of the open source model service platform, which is suitable for the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of related platforms.
It is worth mentioning that since the beginning of this year, Alibaba Cloud has contributed a wealth of industrial practices in the field of artificial intelligence. Alibaba Cloud serves as the co-leader unit of the large model special group of the National Artificial Intelligence Standardization Group, and has been deeply involved in the formulation of several national standards related to large models. Alibaba Cloud is also the only technology manufacturer with open-source self-developed large models, and Tongyi Qianwen has topped the list of many authoritative open source models at home and abroad.
