Manchester United: Casemiro injury update could return against Bayern

Casemiro was out for almost six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury against Newcastle last month and is now back in training in preparation for United's return. Manchester United have confirmed Casemiro has started 'on-pitch training' almost six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury against Newcastle. The Brazilian has not featured for the Red Devils since being beaten 3-0 by Eddie Howe's side at Old Trafford on 1 November. He was substituted at half-time and he had just recovered from an ankle injury.

After more than a month of absence, United have released an update on Casemiro, with the former Real Madrid midfielder returning to training. He was spotted alone on grass at Carrington while his Red Devils team-mates were training after a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth. Casemiro is now likely to represent United against Bayern Munich in Tuesday's Champions League fixture, although Ten Hag has previously said he expects the 31-year-old to return until after Christmas. The Red Devils must beat the German champions to have any chance of progressing to the last 16.

If Manchester United win against Bayern Munich and the match between FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray ends in a draw, the Red Devils will secure a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League competition. Ten Hag's side have picked up just four points from their first five Champions League games. However, after the Reds were beaten by Bournemouth, Ten Hag admitted he was very disappointed with his team's performance as they suffered their 11th defeat of the season.

Of course I'm disappointed and I was definitely expecting something different,' said Ten Hag. "I want to have a better performance and a better result in the competition. So I'm very disappointed with the way we started the game. For a long time we did everything we could to get back into the game. 'Bruno Fernandes was frustrated after the game. He told UNITEDTV: "It's always the case when we win one game, but the next game we don't do well. We're not doing the same thing as before. I don't know if it's because of a lack of concentration or something else, but it's something we have to be aware of after winning the game. We have to do that to win the game consistently, even if sometimes [if we] don't play well, but get results." ”
