On December 7, 2023, Torc Robotics, an independent subsidiary of Daimler Trucks, which is developing self-driving trucks, announced a strategic partnership with Uber Freight (Uber Freight), which will use and apply the insights of Uber Freight's vast network to support the development and deployment of its self-driving trucks.

Through this agreement, Torc will leverage Uber Freight's $18 billion in active freight management and logistics network of more than 100,000 digital carriers to provide insights and experience for the deployment of autonomous trucks in the future.

The companies said Uber Cargo's market and insights will be used to inform Torc's self-driving freight network design and expansion strategy. These insights include which lanes are best suited for deployment, how to prioritize the deployment of lanes and various yard deliveries, the use of autonomous trucks to balance supply and demand across the **chain, and the use of hubs to manage automated rack-mounted freight.

Uber Cargo is also a long-standing member of the Torc's Autonomous Driving Advisory Council (TAAC), a group of trucking industry players who provide strategic guidance to Torc. This includes Schneider, Cr.England, Penske and Ryder, as well as Daimler Truck, Torc's majority shareholder.

"Collaboration in the autonomous trucking industry is critical to the large-scale deployment of this technology," Torc said. Our partnership with Uber Freight is a great example of how we can work with industry players to ensure that the technology integrates seamlessly, securely, and efficiently."

Leveraging Uber Freight's data and insights will help us commercialize autonomous trucks at scale by 2027."
