People sit on the edge of the world, laughing", Author: Philip Weiss, Translator: Chen Zao, Edition: East China Normal University Press, 20238
Man Sits on the Edge of the World, Laughs is a bizarre work that makes people unable to laugh. The work consists of five interrelated and independent parts: My Encyclopedia, an autobiographical diary compiled in the form of a dictionary by a French girl born in the 1850s"Ambiguous Zone", a "Missing Person" that takes place in Japan;"Notes", an erudite, confusing and even frantic personal reflections;"Akio's Recording", the death of a little boy in Fukushima, a whimsical account;"Happiness Island", a fanji comic full of dreamy philosophies. These are naturally the works of post-80s writer Philip Weiss. Different perspectives (men, women, and children), different places (France, Japan), and different pains (revolution, money, ideology, all kinds of loss) can all be boiled down to two: "me" and "world". The world is so new, but full of pain, in the violent collision with this world, how should a person know "me"?How do we know this planet, the whole universe? How did the universe come into existence from nothing, and where did it go?In order to find the answer, Philip Weiss used physics, mathematics, literature, religion, art, nature, and other knowledge to leave readers with infinite inspiration. Perhaps we can simplify the problem even further, since all questions are "I" thinking, then "who am I" becomes the only question. The answer lies behind this question. However, who am I?"Happiness Island" said: "I opened one door after another, looking for myself. ”
