Since the outbreak of the conflict in northern Myanmar, the situation has become increasingly intense, affecting the security and stability of the China-Myanmar border. Beginning at the end of October, a coalition of troops led by the Kokang Allied Army, the Arakan Army, and the De'ang Army launched an offensive against a number of towns and strongholds controlled by the Burmese ** Army. Since the outbreak of the war for more than a month, the towns controlled by the Burmese army have been lost, and the war in northern Myanmar has fallen into a stalemate, which is very unfavorable to the security of the China-Myanmar border. In this regard, in order to promote the relaxation and cooling of the situation in northern Myanmar, the Chinese side has recently taken the initiative to mediate and provide a venue for negotiations between the parties to the conflict in northern Myanmar, and invited them to come to China for talks.

As early as December 11, news came out that under the coordination of the Chinese side, relevant personnel from Myanmar** and the Kokang Army, the De'ang Army, and the Rakhan Army had arrived in China for a meeting. This news was also confirmed by China on December 14. Chinese spokesman Mao Ning said at a press conference on the same day that a few days ago, under the mediation and promotion of the Chinese side, the Myanmar Army, the Kokang Army, the De'ang Army, and the Arakan Army have indeed held peace talks in China, and have reached agreements such as a temporary ceasefire. At present, the fighting in northern Myanmar has dropped significantly, which is beneficial to both China and Myanmar and helps to secure the border between China and Myanmar.

I also stressed that China has always firmly supported the peace process in northern Myanmar, has always provided dialogue support and facilitation to all parties involved in the conflict in northern Myanmar, and supported the end of the war and peace in northern Myanmar as soon as possible. The willingness of all parties to the conflict in northern Myanmar to come to China and sit down at the negotiating table provided by China for negotiations is also a sign of trust in China. After all, in China, we, as a third party, can guarantee their safety and let them put aside all their precautions and discuss the issue of promoting a peace truce. This is the result of China's influence as a great power.

You must know that since the start of the war, the Kokang Allied Army has continued to conquer cities and occupy the absolute initiative on the Kokang battlefield, and now is the time when morale is strong, if there is no heavyweight third-party mediation, but if the Myanmar ** army asks for peace talks, the Kokang Allied Army will most likely not have something to say, who knows what the Burmese ** army is doing? On the contrary, it is the same for the Burmese army, now is the time when the war is stalemate, a series of ** measures are in the pipeline, and it has not yet regained the initiative on the battlefield, how can it be easy to sit down for peace talks?

As an honest and responsible major country, and as a third party, China has not participated in the civil war in Myanmar and does not support any party, so it is up to China to promote a peace truce so that all parties to the conflict in northern Myanmar are willing to let down their guard and talk. This also proves that China is willing to play an active role in regional peace. (Although a temporary ceasefire and other agreements have been reached, the fighting continues in many parts of northern Myanmar and has not completely stopped.)

Even though an agreement was reached in just three days, the peace talks have so far only reached a temporary ceasefire and agreed to continue to resolve the conflict through communication. In the days following the agreement, skirmishes between the Ta'ang Army, the Arakan Army, and the Myanmar Army continued in Rakhine and Shan States. However, a spokesman for Myanmar has already said that he will hold another meeting with the Kokang Alliance and other relevant ethnic forces at the end of this month. Obviously, it is indeed difficult to end this conflict, which has affected the whole of northern Myanmar, in a short period of time, after all, all parties need to have enough time to weigh the pros and cons. However, the parties to the conflict have shown their willingness to negotiate peace, which is a good start.

China also calls on all parties in Myanmar to implement the ceasefire agreement as soon as possible, restrain their troops, manage individual cases, and avoid the recurrence of conflicts. The cessation of the conflict in northern Myanmar is in the interests of all parties, including China. Therefore, China is pleased to see that the parties to the conflict in northern Myanmar have held peace talks and achieved positive results, and is more willing to continue to provide support and assistance to ensure peace in the region. In fact, the peace and stability of northern Myanmar is not only beneficial to the security of the China-Myanmar border, but also to China-Myanmar economic cooperation. The Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor (BMEC) is one of the important components of China's Belt and Road Initiative. The Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor is a huge project involving four countries and more than 3 billion people.

Mandalay in Myanmar is the first stop of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor outside the country, and it is an important hub connecting India and Bangladesh. Recently, the clashes between the local ethnic armed forces and the ** army in Mandalay have caused the situation in the region to continue to be turbulent, which is not conducive to the advancement of the "Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor". (China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline is one of China's four major energy strategic channels, there is no room for sloppiness) China-Myanmar energy cooperation is also a key project, after the completion and use of the China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline, can reduce China's energy imports extremely dependent on the situation of shipping through the Strait of Malacca, is China's fourth largest energy strategic channel. The energy project allows China's oil and gas imported from the Middle East to be directly disembarked at Kyaukpyu Port in Myanmar by sea, and then across the entire territory of Myanmar to Kunming, Yunnan, China.

Even if the Strait of Malacca is really blocked during the war, our country can continue to obtain oil and gas energy through the China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline. However, Mandalay, Mujie, Lashio and other places through which the China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline passes are currently war zones, or these areas have always been battleground in the Myanmar civil war. Although the relevant departments of our country have said that the war in northern Myanmar has not affected the normal construction of the China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline project, if these conflicts continue or even expand and worsen, the safety of the China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline will inevitably be threatened. Therefore, considering the interests of many parties, it is really time for the war in northern Myanmar to end.

At present, the warring parties in northern Myanmar are willing to give face to China and are willing to hold face-to-face talks on the armistice, which is also a clear signal of relaxation. It is believed that with China's continued good offices, all parties to the conflict will be able to adopt a more positive attitude to resolve the issue and avoid the outbreak of civil war one after another.
