IT Home reported on December 22 that according to Reuters, the U.S. road safety regulator said that Tesla would recall 120423 vehicles in the United StatesThe reason for this is that the doors may be unlocked in a collision

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said Tesla has pushed an OTA update to address the issue.

This recall affects model year 2021-2023 Model S and Model X because these vehicles do not meet certain federal safety standards for side impact protection.

IT Home previously reported that Tesla earlier recalled 2031220 cars equipped with assisted driving software overseas because of safety risks in the self-driving function.

The extensive recall covers nearly all Tesla vehicles sold in the U.S., including vehicles manufactured between October 5, 2012 and December 7, 2012, including the 2012-2023 Model S, 2016-2023 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model YThis is all models that support Autosteer, one of the FSD features

The NHTSA conducted a two-year investigation into a series of accidents that occurred after Tesla's driver assistance system was turned on, and found some fatal problems.

Tesla has sent OTA upgrade notifications to affected vehicles, and the software update includes "additional controls and alerts" designed to "further encourage drivers to take responsibility for their driving."
