Teacher, we found the home of Zhao Yuanwen's grandfather, who participated in the War of Liberation and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. Recently, Li Shihui, a professor at the School of Marxism at Harbin Engineering University, received a WeChat message from student Wang Chuanlin, who braved the cold to visit the site and found the 102-year-old veteran Zhao Yuanwen.

In recent years, Li Shihui and his students have visited more than 30 veterans of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, established contact with them, sorted out their battle stories, publicized their touching deeds, carried out extensive national defense education activities, and passed on the red spiritual torch.

Hunt for the loveliest people

During my doctoral studies at Nankai University, I was fortunate to get acquainted with Mr. Wei Hongyun, a well-known historian who has studied the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation. In my communication with him, I became very interested in the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation. Li Shihui told reporters that coming to Harbin Engineering University to teach and working and living in the Northeast gave him the idea of visiting veterans of the Anti-Japanese Federation on the spot.

Initially, Li Shihui relied on retrieving news reports or inquiring from various parties, and walked the streets and alleys with vague addresses to search. In the end, he made up his mind to persist in doing this, which originated from a visit to Li Min, a veteran of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation.

Li Min joined the Anti-Japanese Federation at the age of 13 and insisted on fighting in Linhai Snow Plain. "The green grass is rippling and the summer is long, and we are busy saving the country;Li Song sent a song to the west, and from then on, each side. I hope that comrades will shoulder heavy responsibilities and strive for glory for the country;I wish comrades a bright future and no hesitation to forge ahead. At that time, Li Min sang the song "Sending the West" to Li Shihui.

This song not only shows the deep emotions between comrades-in-arms, but also contains Grandma Li's earnest entrustment to me, a junior. Li Shihui told reporters that during the search, he learned a number of songs that were facing loss, which provided valuable information for his academic research and curriculum design. He was deeply touched by the purity and sincerity of the veterans.

In order to share these precious materials and touches with more people, Li Shihui compiled and formed a manuscript of more than 20 thousand words "Tribute to the Loveliest People - Interviews with Veterans". The manuscript of this book and a large amount of first-hand information accumulated in the search became an important resource for him to take good ideological and political courses.

Harbin Engineering University, formerly known as Harbin Military Engineering Institute (hereinafter referred to as "Harbin Military Industry"), was born in the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea. At the beginning of the establishment of the school, including the first dean Chen Geng, many faculty members participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. On campus, elements of national defense can be found everywhere. The school building is the style of traditional Chinese architecture, but the roof ridge is not a mythical beast, but a representative model, aircraft, tanks, ships, artillery, etc.

There is a small building with yellow walls and red tiles that teachers and students are very familiar with, that is, the "Kazakhstan Military Industry" Memorial Hall. The museum has more than 10,000 pieces of cultural relics, many of which are donated by old alumni. The staff of the memorial hall said that the memorial hall shows the contribution of "Kazakhstan Military Industry" to the cause of national defense science and technology as China's first comprehensive higher military science and technology institution, and aims to encourage students to inherit the red gene and continue to forge ahead.

Li Shihui believes that it is very necessary to teach in such a college with distinctive national defense and military industrial characteristics, and to integrate the bloody stories of veterans into the classroom, so that students can become familiar with the history of the school, know the combat heroes, and understand the history of the war.

Incorporate veteran stories into the classroom

Fight for freedom, swear to resist, serve the horse, and return the body. Look at the fighting field, the military is prominent. The ice and snow are ambitious, and the frost and rain are doubly doubled. On the triumphant day of the recovery of the Northeast, comfort Xuanyuan. The poems written by the soldiers of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation, such as "Black Water and White Mountain, Sending the Red River" and "Riverside Narrative" and "Camping Song", are often presented in Li Shihui's class through recitation and singing, vividly interpreting the national righteousness and the heroic spirit of the soldiers who bravely went to the national disaster and fought to the end.

In addition to the specific battle stories, poetry is also a key to understanding the history of the Anti-Japanese Federation, and a window to learn Xi this history. Li Shihui told reporters that the poems and songs taught by the veterans are the valuable content of his courseware, and he plans to open a new course in the next school year, which is called "Poetry Appreciation of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation".

Northeast China has been occupied by Japanese invaders for a long time, and it is quite difficult to carry out mass work. In order to do a good job in mass work, the officers and men of the Anti-Japanese Federation spontaneously composed many songs to publicize the anti-Japanese resistance and boost morale. There was once a veteran in his 90s who was very inconvenient to move, but he was able to sing many anti-United Nations songs in one breath, and I was shocked by his passionate state. In the process of searching for veterans, Li Shihui found that the Anti-Japanese Federation attached great importance to the role of songs, which gave him a lot of inspiration.

There were many soldiers from well-to-do families in the Anti-Japanese Federation, and some were highly talented students from Tsinghua University, Whampoa Military Academy, and other academies, who chose an extremely difficult road in the turbulent era. In class, Li Shihui often uses the specific and vivid stories he finds to give lectures to students. Li Shihui told reporters that the cultural quality of the students is very high, and as a teacher of ideological and political courses, he hopes that this group of talented young people can become people with family and country feelings and ideals and aspirations.

** is not just to tell us theories, but to use stories to tell history, reason, and interspersed with some songs. A sophomore in the school's School of Humanities told reporters that they all love to listen to Li Shihui's lectures.

In addition to teaching at the school, as a member of the propaganda team of the Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee, Li Shihui is often invited to give lectures outside the school. The local ** also recorded his course on preaching the deeds of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation into a micro-party class for broadcasting.

Let more people see the light of the torch

The loveliest people are around! At the beginning of October, before the screening of the movie "Volunteers: Heroic Soldiers", Wang Jitang, a 94-year-old veteran of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation, and Li Mingwu, a veteran of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, wore neat military uniforms and wore medals and commemorative medals on their chests. The two veterans were invited to watch the movie and communicate with everyone, and it was the college student volunteers of the school's "Red Torch" club.

The club was established in July this year and attracted more than 200 students to join, covering three stages of undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees, and students from Harbin University of Science and Technology and other universities also joined in. Under the guidance of Li Shihui and other teachers, the members of the club actively care for the veterans, and carry out regular visits, New Year's condolences, and volunteer services one by one. During the exchanges, teachers and students established a good relationship with the veterans. Before the film screening, the members of the club tried to invite two veterans to participate, and they readily agreed.

The torch is to guide the direction and let more people see the light of the torch. At the beginning of this year, Li Shihui's application for the project of "Integrating the Spirit of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation into the Teaching and Research of Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Colleges and Universities" was successfully approved as the studio project of famous teachers of ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities in Heilongjiang Province. In order to let more people care for veterans and inherit and carry forward the revolutionary spirit, Li Shihui relied on the platform of the famous teacher's studio to initiate the establishment of a college student club. "When we discuss the name of the society, I don't remember who said it was called 'torch', because it symbolizes warmth and transmission. In the end, the name 'Red Torch' was unanimously approved. Li Shihui told reporters.

I didn't expect that there are still people who care about our past, and some people are interested and willing to listen. At the end of a search, Lou Kejun, an interviewed veteran of the Anti-Japanese War, said that the arrival of the students made him feel warm. He is usually very low-key, and the neighbors do not know that this "ordinary old man" has participated in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and has worked on the intelligence front.

Warmed and illuminated, there are also students who participated in the event.

It is not a blessing to be remembered by the names of 90-year-old veterans of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea!Wang Chuanlin, a member of the "Red Torch" club, told reporters that he had visited Li Wenxuan, a veteran of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea and an alumnus of Kazakhstan's military industry, with his teachers and classmates. A few days later, they met by chance on campus, and Li Wenxuan recognized Wang Chuanlin from a distance and greeted him warmly, which made him particularly moved.

With the passage of time, there are fewer and fewer veterans of the Anti-Japanese War and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and Li Shihui and the "Red Torch" society have also accelerated the pace of searching. They will also visit the old alumni of the Kazakh military industry and learn Xi the dedication and sense of responsibility of the older generation of military workers.
