At 7:59 a.m. on December 27, train D8242 slowly left Dongxing Station. 19 minutes later, the train arrived at Fangchenggang North Station at 8:18 on time. On the same day, China's first high-speed railway directly connecting the China-Vietnam border port city, the Fangdong Railway, was officially put into operation, and the China-Vietnam border city of Dongxing was connected to the national railway network.

The Fangdong Railway Line is 47 kilometers long, with a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour, and there are two stations on the whole line, Fangchenggang North Station and Dongxing City Station.
Fangdong Railway is one of the inline and extension projects of China's high-quality construction of the new western land-sea corridor. As a new modern and high-capacity international passenger and freight transportation channel, the project is connected to Dongxing (China) and Haiphong (Vietnam) in the west and Guangxi coastal railway in the east, mainly undertaking passenger transportation while taking into account the transfer of some cross-border materials.

After the opening of the Fangdong Railway, the passage time from the main urban area of Fangchenggang to Dongxing was shortened from about 60 minutes to 20 minutes by road, and it only took 70 minutes for the bullet train to reach Dongxing City from Nanning, the capital, which greatly promoted the border tourism and exchanges of Dongxing City.
