On December 26, ** spokesperson Mao Ning held a regular press conference.

China will take countermeasures against one U.S. institution and two individuals

A reporter asked about the US release of its annual human rights report on Xinjiang.

Mao Ning said that the US has once again concocted and spread false narratives about Xinjiang, imposed illegal sanctions on Chinese companies under the pretext of the so-called human rights issue in Xinjiang, seriously interfered in China's internal affairs, seriously violated international law and basic norms governing international relations, seriously tarnished China's image, and seriously damaged the legitimate rights and interests of relevant Chinese companies and enterprises. China firmly opposes and strongly condemns this, and has lodged solemn representations with the US side.

According to the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law of the People's Republic of China, China will impose sanctions on one U.S. intelligence data company, including Kharon, a U.S. intelligence data company, that has been collecting sensitive Xinjiang-related information for a long time and providing a "basis" for U.S. illegal Xinjiang-related sanctionsCountermeasures were taken against two people, including Edmund Xu, director of investigation at Caron Corporation, and Nicole Morgret, a former researcher at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies, prohibiting the above two persons from entering China (including the mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao Special Administrative Regions), freezing the movable and immovable properties and other types of property of the above-mentioned companies and individuals in China, and prohibiting organizations and individuals in China from conducting relevant transactions, cooperation, and other activities with them.

Mao Ning said that we once again urge the US side to stop slandering and smearing China, revoke illegal unilateral sanctions against China** and enterprises, and stop implementing the so-called "Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act" and other erroneous bills. If the US side insists on going its own way, China will accompany it to the end.

China urges the US side not to implement the negative provisions of the relevant bills related to China

A reporter asked, on December 22, local time, Biden signed the "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024" into law, which contains negative provisions related to China. Do you have any comment?

Mao Ning said that the US side insisted on passing and signing the "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024" that contains negative content related to China, and China expresses strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this, and has lodged solemn representations with the US side. The bill interferes in China's internal affairs, clamours US military support for Taiwan, and violates the one-China principle and the three Sino-US joint communiques. We urge the US side to earnestly implement the commitment of the US leader not to support the "Taiwan issue", stop manipulating the Taiwan issue, and stop jeopardizing peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. The bill exaggerates the "China threat", suppresses Chinese companies, and restricts normal economic and trade exchanges and people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States, which is not in the interests of either side. The US should abandon the Cold War mentality and ideological bias and create a favorable environment for China-US cooperation in various fields such as economy and trade.

Mao Ning said that we urge the US side to work with China in the same direction, implement the important outcomes and consensus of the China-US summit in San Francisco, and refrain from implementing the negative provisions of the above-mentioned bill. If the US insists on going its own way, China will take resolute and forceful measures to firmly defend its sovereignty, security and development interests.
