On December 18, Guangzhou Technology Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Technology Elephant Technology") completed a Series C financing of nearly 200 million yuan, led by the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry of China Development Bank and followed by the equity investment in the core technology research and development of CETC.

According to reports, this round of financing funds will be used for the continuous development and iteration of core technologies, as well as to promote the commercialization of existing TPUNB (note: narrowband wireless communication system) core products.

Jixiang Technology received nearly 200 million yuan in Series C financing.

When people are pursuing broadband more and more "wide", why is narrowband favored by the capital market?

Localization breaks through the "stuck neck" problem, which is favored by investors.

Founded in December 2018, Jixiang Technology is the first batch of first technology enterprises in the pilot project of transformation and mixed reform of scientific and technological achievements of China Electronics Technology Group, mainly engaged in the research and development of Internet of Things communication technology and equipment.

In recent years, China's Internet of Things industry has developed rapidly. At the end of August 2022, China became the first country in the world to achieve "superhuman things", and the number of cellular IoT end users developed by three basic telecom operators reached 169.8 billion households, more than 16 percent of the total number of mobile** users7.8 billion households.

However, as one of the key technologies of the Internet of Things, the wireless communication technology LPWAN (note: low-power wide-area network) has been dominated by foreign companies for a long time, and no company in China has independent intellectual property rights in this field.

The narrowband wireless communication system developed by Jixiang Technology has achieved 100% localization and broken through the "stuck neck" problem. Under the new trend of "domestic substitution", Jixiang Technology is favored by the investment community.

In an interview, the investor CDB Manufacturing Industry Transformation and Upgrading said: "At present, China's research on the underlying technology of the Internet of Things is relatively scarce, and it lacks the mastery and innovation of key technologies, and is facing the embarrassing situation of being controlled by others. The 100% independent intellectual property rights of the IoT private network developed by Jixiang Technology adopts the ultra-long-distance wireless transmission technology of low-power wide-area Internet of Things technology based on S-FSK, and has the independent and controllable ability of the whole industry chain of low-power wide-area Internet of Things communication protocols, chips, modules, gateways, base stations and Internet of Things communication solutions, and is expected to participate in the international communication standards in the field of narrowband of Internet of Things in the future. ”

Why are they obsessed with narrowband when broadband is getting wider and wider?

The term "broadband" is no longer unfamiliar to the general public, while "narrowband" is less well known. While we are bent on pursuing broadband to become wider and wider, and the amount of information disseminated is increasing, Technology has been persisting in narrowband for many years. Why?Dr. Wen Wenkun, chief engineer of Jixiang Technology, gave a popular explanation.

The transmission rate of "narrowband" is low, the amount of information transmission is small, and in the past it could only transmit voice and simple information. Historically, the telegraph, as well as voice calls and text messages that still exist today, could transmit information through narrowband. The emergence of "broadband" brings a new experience to the public, which can be transmitted through mobile phones**and**. Narrowband cannot support ** and ** with a high amount of information transferred.

Dr. Wen Wenkun, Chief Engineer of Jixiang Technology.

Wen Wenkun continued to use a scene from life as a metaphor: "It's like only a wide road that allows a car to drive at high speed. ”

The concept of broadband appeared in the 3G era, and after the emergence of 4G and 5G, broadband became more and more 'wide' and could transmit more and more information. Wen Wenkun said that based on this, people can watch more and more high-definition, and in the future, they can also rely on sufficient bandwidth to achieve VR three-dimensional information dissemination.

The greater the amount of information transmitted, the greater the power consumption. The intuitive embodiment of this truth is that the battery of the "old man's machine" on the market, which can only make calls and send text messages, can be used for up to 7 days, while the battery of the smartphone is quickly used up.

This function alone is not a sufficient reason for Jixiang Technology to invest a lot of manpower and material resources in the study of narrow bands. The narrowband blue ocean market is currently a popular IoT field. Sufficient low power consumption provides the necessary conditions for the installation of sensors over a wider range and the wireless transmission of information.

Nowadays, the Internet of Things has become one of the main development directions of the digital economy, and the era of "Internet of Everything" is coming to us. A sensing device that can operate for up to 10 years becomes a realistic option at a low cost. "Large-scale installations rely on broadband sensors to transmit information, which consumes energy and costs a lot. Wen Wenkun explained.

Narrowband has great advantages in IoT scenarios where only a small amount of information needs to be transmitted. It can be seen from the application case shared by Tan Yuanhua, general manager of the product division of Jixiang Technology.

Nowadays, the narrowband wireless communication system of Jixiang Technology has been widely used in various scenarios in Guangzhou, such as judging whether the manhole cover of the urban road is moved based on location information, judging whether the ancient building is damaged based on vibration and cracking, judging whether it is damaged or attacked by a typhoon based on the bending degree of the ancient tree branches, and judging whether the electric bicycle battery is charged in the house based on the law of current.

What these use cases have in common is that only a small amount of information is propagated as a judgment result, which is where narrowband comes in. When this kind of low-cost sensors are distributed in various scenes of the city, and the effective information is transmitted back to the "city brain", an Internet of Things system covering the whole city is formed.

When everyone likes to drink all kinds of flavorful drinks, someone has to make the mineral water well. Wen Wenkun said that this is what Jixiang Technology is doing.
