Get your AIDS right
AIDS is a disease caused by the HIV virus attacking the body's immune system, also known as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). In other words, after contracting this disease, people become immunodeficient, that is, people who are extremely weak in fighting against diseases.
I believe that many people have known the word "AIDS" for a long time. The author is almost 40 years old, and when I was in elementary school, I saw an advertisement about the Red Ribbon on TV. The red ribbon is an international symbol of care for people living with HIV and is marked by World AIDS Day (1 December). Pu Cunxin was a public welfare promoter of the Red Ribbon event at that time, and I believe that many people had an impression of this advertisement.
Inadvertently, 30 years have passed. I have grown from an ignorant child to a female pharmacist. However, in the past, my understanding of HIV/AIDS has always stayed in Pu Cunxin's public service announcements and biology textbooks in middle school. I thought that AIDS was far away from ordinary people. Most people and ordinary people think so, right?
The following will break most of the preconceived notions of the past!
AIDS is not far from ordinary people! If we don't have enough knowledge about AIDS, if we don't have a correct view of sexuality, AIDS is very close to us!The staff of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention revealed: There are also some AIDS patients in many small counties, because they have the right to privacy, so they hide among the population. They may be civil servants, they may be doctors, they may be teachers, they may be car mechanics.
Recognizing that AIDS is not far away from the common people is a disruption to perceptionStep 1.
Step 2, is to know, AIDS is not HIV
The answer to this question is no.
HIV is the virus that causes AIDS, but not all people who are infected with HIV do not necessarily get AIDS.
Why is that?
According to the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of HIV/AIDS (2021), after HIV infection, it can be divided into three stages: acute stage, asymptomatic stage and AIDS stage according to clinical manifestations. Among them, the AIDS stage is the terminal stage after HIV infection. Patients have CD4+ T lymphocyte counts < 200 L more. The main clinical manifestations in this stage are HIV-related symptoms, signs, and various opportunistic infections** and tumors. Anyone who is infected with HIV can control the infection by taking antiretroviral drugs regularly and on a regular basis, thereby avoiding or delaying the progression to the AIDS stage.
The third step is how to prevent HIV for most ordinary people. Here we want to emphasize an important role of ***. That is, to stop the spread of viruses and bacteria. Many people think that *** is used for contraception, but in fact, this is just underestimating***. It stops the spread of disease. Many parents of boys have a misconception that boys do not suffer if they have a relationship, so it doesn't matter if they wear condoms or not. This notion is grossly wrong. Whether it is a son or a daughter, he or she must be educated that it is necessary to wear *** contraception when having sex, and the most important thing is to prevent sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS. This is very important.
In addition to the above three points, ordinary people should also know that AIDS is mainly transmitted through bodily fluids, and shaking hands with AIDS patients to eat will not transmit AIDS. People living with HIV are also part of the common population, and they also need to be respected. At present, although AIDS cannot be **, it is similar to diabetes, which is already a chronic disease that can be controlled.
What should people with HIV pay attention to?We'll talk about that in the next issue.
