At that time, there were not so many entertainment activities for scholars, and the biggest pastime was to "chant poetry" and "oppose" each other. What I want to share with you today is a couplet story about Su Xiaomei and the old man in the Northern Song Dynasty. During the Northern Song Dynasty, there was a famous writer Su Shi. The Su family is a scholarly family, and the family is very cultured. The Tang and Song dynasties wrote the most powerful grandmaster-level combination "Tang and Song Eight Families", and the Su family took over three, namely Su Shi and his younger brother Su Zhe, as well as his father Su Xun. According to various ancient books (wild history), Su Shi has a younger sister named Su Xiaomei, who is also a person who is familiar with poetry and books, has outstanding talents, and is good at couplets. Seeing this, Su Xiaomei ran over to drive away these gangsters for the old man, and helped the old man clean up the stall in her hand, and she didn't stop talking: Uncle, they bullied you, why don't you resist?The old man was very grateful for Su Xiaomei's help, and after hearing her question, he smiled and replied:"Half deaf, half dumb, half confused. ”After listening to her father-in-law's answer, Su Xiaomei instantly understood what the old man meant. When the old man said "half-deaf and half-dumb", he did not mean that he had physical problems, he was a half-deaf and half-mute person, but he was talking about his own attitude towards life. 
The old man has lived for so many years, in fact, he has seen a lot, if it was young, he might rush up and fight them directly. But now that he is old, he doesn't want to see those people in general, and he doesn't want to care about these rights and wrongs at all. When people reach old age, their hearts will usually become wider and wider, and they will let go of a lot of things, so they will not have too many worries, and they will live more transparently. Su Xiaomei was annoyed at first when she saw the old man being bullied, but after listening to the old man's words, she also understood a lot, it seems that the old man in front of her is still a cultural person.
