The festive season is coming, and the plum blossoms are pretty. The 13th Summer Palace "Proud Bone Fragrance" Plum Blossom and Wax Plum Spring Cultural Exhibition arrived as scheduled in the dark fragrance floating, sending visitors the blessings of the first spring of the Chinese lunar Year of the Dragon.
The "Plum Blossom and Wax Plum Spring Cultural Exhibition", sponsored by the Summer Palace Management Office, is one of the series of activities of the 2024 "Spring of the Sea" New Year Cultural Season. The exhibition will run from February 5th to February 19th, and the exhibition hall will be open from 8:30 to 17:00 every day.
The exhibition is located in the Changguan Hall and the Cultivation and Weaving Map Scenic Area in the west of the Summer Palace, and on the basis of last year's main exhibition area and boutique exhibition area, a new intangible cultural heritage flower arrangement display area has been added. More than 100 pots of plum blossoms, wax plum stump bonsai and other plants are exhibited, among which the key exhibit plum stump is more than 100 years old. The exhibition focuses on creating the beauty of the artistic conception of the ancients appreciating plum blossoms. The color of the curtain in the exhibition hall of Changguantang is taken from the Soviet-style color paintings in the corridor, such as peach, apricot yellow, stone green, moon white, azure, ......The exhibition hall is rendered full of spring. The partition between the bonsai uses the Qing Dynasty Dong He's "Yaopu Xianchun Atlas" to create the humanistic temperament of plum blossoms.
The main exhibition hall exhibits two large-scale theme bonsai of "Summer Palace Four Seasons Appreciation" and "Dragon and Phoenix Chengxiang", as well as fine plum blossoms, wax plum bonsai and seasonal flowers. The first thing that catches the eyes of visitors when they enter the exhibition hall is the 6-meter-long bonsai with the theme of "Dragon and Phoenix Chengxiang". With red plum, white plum and dead wood as the main materials, supplemented by moss, spring, pine branches, narcissus, and Chinese orchid, through the creation of artistic conception, it shows the splendor and meaning of the auspicious dragon and phoenix in traditional Chinese culture.
The exhibition added a new intangible cultural heritage flower arrangement exhibition area, and held the first Chinese traditional flower arrangement art festival - "Flower Arrangement of the Sui Dynasty" exhibition at the same time in the courtyard of the Cultivation and Weaving Diagram Water Gymnastics School, and invited dozens of people such as the national intangible cultural heritage traditional flower arrangement inheritance team and the inheritors of the intangible cultural heritage items of flower arrangement at all levels across the country, and the masters of flower arrangement, carefully created more than 50 pieces of flower arrangement works with the theme of the New Year.
In conjunction with the exhibition, from the first day of the Lunar New Year to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, the Summer Palace also held 12 interactive activities such as the Dragon Dance Summer Palace, the Wonderful Hands of Plum Fragrance, the Colorful Painting Dragon Hunting, and the Great Exhibition of Dragon Pictures. The popular science lecturer led the children to know the plum blossoms, appreciate the plum blossoms, and sing the plum blossom poems. Children can experience plum makeup, make plum blossom greeting cards, draw plum blossom pictures and other experiential activities. The "Dragon Dance Yihe" series is handmade in the form of DIY, such as splicing dragon hats and printing dragon seals, so that children can understand the zodiac culture and fall in love with traditional culture.
