KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- The 2024 Malaysia Open Badminton Championships kicked off in Kuala Lumpur on January 9. The Chinese team played in all the men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles competitions on the same day, among which the men's singles players Shi Yuqi and Lu Guangzu staged two reversals.

In the women's singles match, China's Zhang Yiman defeated India's Akhalsi Kahiap 21-15, while Han Yue easily defeated Indonesia's Putri Kusuma Vardani 13.

The three women's doubles pairs of the Chinese team, Chen Qingchen, Jia Yifan, Li Yijing, Luo Xumin, Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning, defeated the Korean pair Li Youlin Shin Seung-chan, the Dutch pair Gil Selning, and the Malaysian pair Chen Kang Lok Tina 2-0 respectively to enter the next round.

In Mixed Doubles, China's Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong eliminated Hong Kong's Lee Chun Hei and Ng Tsz Ya Ya in straight games. Another Chinese team pair, Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping, lost to Thailand's Supak Supisara with 21 regrets.

The Malaysia Open 2024 is a BWF World Tour Super 1000 level event that will run until 14 January.
