Lufthansa Training (LAT) has partnered closely with 3Spin Learning to take crew training to the next level with Apple Vision Pro.
VR plays an important role in the daily training of the LAT. Currently, 20,000 training sessions are conducted annually at two VR centers in Frankfurt and Munich, contributing to more efficient and cost-effective training. The convergence of the virtual and real worlds is limited, but the Apple Vision Pro opens up new possibilities on top of existing technology.
As the first application in the global aviation training space, it enables de-escalation training specifically for Vision Pro. This scenario is particularly well-suited because it allows the use of AI to simulate passenger behavior in different scenarios, while taking into account the reactions of the crew. Before its official release in the U.S. in early February, Apple gave the design software the opportunity to test it extensively.
Training leverages Vision Pro's innovative capabilities in spatial computing to depict real-world situations in the virtual chamber environment and the training center's real-world overlay. Through the integrated AI algorithm, the learning content is highly personalized and tailored to the needs of the learners, resulting in effective and efficient training. Trainees can get real-time feedback from their instructors, who also have the ability to adjust situations and passenger behaviour, with the ultimate goal of individually improving the capabilities required of the crew.
Gilad Scherpf, Senior Director of Aviation Training and Development at Lufthansa Group, said: "We are excited about the new possibilities offered by Apple's Vision Pro. LAT aims to actively exploit the potential of this advanced technology in aviation training. ”
Thomas Hoger, co-founder of 3Spin Learning, said: "The combination of AI and spatial computing heralds a paradigm shift in soft skills training. Since such a course no longer needs to be programmed with our authoring tools, I look forward to the rapid rollout of this learning method. ”
