The 4th "China College Students Public Management Case Competition".Registration deadline: March 1, 2024In order to promote the development of high-quality teaching cases and case studies, the School of Public Governance of Guangzhou Xinhua University (formerly Xinhua College of Sun Yat-sen University) successfully held the first "China College Student Public Management Case Competition" in December 2016 and published the "2016 China College Student Public Management Case Competition Excellent Case Collection" (published by Sun Yat-sen University Press). In 2018 and 2022, the second and third "China College Students Public Management Case Competition" was successfully held. Since its inception in 2016, the competition has always adhered to the original intention of cultivating students to "seek knowledge, be pragmatic and dedicated", guided by practice and in the form of cases, guiding public management students to focus on social reality and write articles on the land of China, providing a platform for public management students across the country to collide and exchange ideas. At present, the competition has been successfully held for three times, attracting more than 700 teams and more than 3,000 students from universities across the country to actively participate in the research and practice in the field of public management, and contribute disciplinary wisdom to the formulation of public policies and national governance. The competition has been continuously improved and developed, and the rigor and scientificity of the competition have been continuously improved, and it has formed a high reputation and influence in the field of public management. On this basis, the 4th "China College Student Public Management Case Competition" will be launched from January 2024 to solicit relevant public management cases from college students in domestic universities (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan). This competition is guided by the socialist thought with Chinese characteristics in the new era, facing the major practical problems in the practice of contemporary Chinese public management, on the one hand, through the competition to show the innovation ability of public management students in various colleges and universities; On the other hand, it brings together excellent cases, promotes case teaching, and exchanges teaching and learning experience, with a view to improving together. Organizational structureThe 4th "China College Student Public Management Case Competition" set up an organizing committee and a review working group. The organizing committee is responsible for the organization, management, decision-making and coordination of the competition, and is composed of relevant persons in charge of the organizer and the organizer. The office of the Organizing Committee is located in the School of Public Governance, Guangzhou Xinhua University, and is responsible for the daily work of the Organizing Committee. The judging working group is composed of relevant experts and professors in the industry, and is responsible for determining the competition cases, formulating the competition evaluation rules and implementation rules, reviewing the competition texts, on-site scoring and other related work. 3. How to participate1.Participants: Students (including doctoral, master's and undergraduate) students in colleges and universities across the country (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), regardless of major. 2.Participating organizations: There is no limit to the number of participating teams from each university, and each participating team can send a team of no more than 5 people in the finals. Fourth, the scheduleThe competition is divided into preliminary, semi-final and final. The contestants take the team as a unit, according to the guidelines provided by the organizing committee, conduct research, analysis and writing, and form a complete case analysis report. Participating teams are required to conduct in-depth analysis based on case scenarios and theories related to public management, and propose feasible and innovative policy suggestions or solutions. (1) The preliminary round adopts the form of anonymous review. The judging team will conduct an anonymous review based on the case texts submitted by the participating teams, and select the 60 teams that enter the semi-finals according to their scores. The case text is between 5,000-10,000 words. Before March 1, 2024, each participating team will send the registration form (including case title and abstract) to the email address of the Organizing Committee of the Case Competition[email protected]April 15, 2024 at 24 o'clockBefore that, each participating team will send the case text of the preliminary competition to the mailbox of the Organizing Committee of the Case Competition (naming format: school name + team name + case text). If the submission is 30 minutes late or less, 2 points will be deducted from the text review score of the preliminary round during the text review; If the submission is 30-60 minutes late (inclusive), 4 points will be deducted from the text review score of the preliminary round; Submissions that exceed 60 minutes will be considered forfeited. From April 16 to 26, 2024, the judging team will conduct an anonymous review based on the case texts submitted by the participating teams in accordance with the following scoring rules, and select the case texts and participating teams in the semi-final stage. (2) Semi-final stageOn May 3, 2024, the organizing committee of the competition will announce the list of finalists, and the semi-finals will officially begin. The semi-finals will be judged anonymously, and the shortlisted teams will revise and improve the case text according to the preliminary evaluation opinions and suggestions of the organizing committee of the competition, and send the revised case text to the mailbox of the organizing committee of the case competition before May 10, 2024 (naming format: school name + team name + case text). (Note: Please submit the word version and PDF version of the case text, and the organizing committee will use CNKI's official plagiarism checking software "China CNKI Academic Misconduct Literature Detection System" to detect the repetition rate of the cases entering the semi-finals, and the similarity of the paragraphs reaches more than 30% (inclusive), which will be determined as failing, and serious plagiarists will be disqualified from participating in this competition.) From May 10 to May 16, 2024, the judging team will conduct an anonymous review based on the case texts submitted by the finalist teams, and the top 10 teams will enter the final round. (3) Final stage 1On May 17, 2024, the organizing committee of the competition announced the final list of finalists on the official website of Guangzhou Xinhua University. 2.Before 12:00 noon on June 7, 2024, each participating team will send the final defense PPT to the mailbox of the organizing committee of the competition. If the submission is 30 minutes late or less, 2 points will be deducted during the semi-final review; 4 points will be deducted if the submission is 30-60 minutes late (inclusive); 10 points will be deducted if the submission is more than 60 minutes late. PPT shall not be replaced at the competition site, otherwise 10 points will be deducted. 3.At 8:30 a.m. on June 8, 2024, the on-site defense of the finals will officially begin, and the participants will need to wear formal clothes and arrive at the venue at least 15 minutes in advance. Each team has 8 minutes to present the case analysis report and 5 minutes to answer questions from the judges. The participating teams will show on the stage in turn, and all the processes of the competition will be carried out according to the host's prompts, and there shall be no timeout, otherwise the timekeeper will directly stop the display. The judges will conduct a comprehensive score based on the on-site presentation and defense (60%) and case text (40%) of each participating team to determine the final award. The body of the case should be about 10,000 words, and the appendix should not exceed 2,000 words. The case must be based on real events. The body of the case should give a complete description of the event, highlight the authenticity, representativeness and conflict, and have a core person or decision-maker to introduce key events and lead to controversial points. Demonstrate the constraints and dilemmas of the development of events or decisions by stating things that confuse or make decisions difficult for key people or decision-makers. (2) The analysis report must be provided for the participating cases, and the number of words in the case analysis report should be within 5000 words, and no attachments are required. The analysis report should use the relevant theories and methods of public management, analyze the relevant background and decision-making elements, and put forward feasible solutions or solutions. 3.It is recommended that the participating teams take the initiative to contact experts inside and outside the school in related fields to serve as instructors to provide specific guidance on the determination of relevant topics, the selection of research methods, the process of field research and the writing of case analysis reports.
