Pretoria, January 30 - On January 29, local time, the Chinese Embassy in South Africa held a celebration of the 2024 "Happy New Year" in Times Square, Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa.
Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Chen Xiaodong, South African Minister of Tourism Delier Delisle, and South African Ambassador to China Xie Shengwen attended and delivered speeches. More than 800 people from all walks of life in South Africa, Chinese-funded institutions in South Africa, and representatives of overseas Chinese gathered together.
In his speech, Chen Xiaodong extended his sincere New Year greetings to everyone and thanked the compatriots in Yugoslavia for their positive contributions to promoting China-South Africa friendship. In the first year of the "first era" of China-South Africa relations, China looks forward to working with South Africa to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and jointly build a high-level China-South Africa community with a shared future.
In their speeches, Minister Delilai and Ambassador Xie Shengwen congratulated China on the Chinese New Year, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to China for its support and assistance to Yugoslavia in various fields, and hoped that the two countries would continue to strengthen cooperation, deepen their special friendship, and bring benefits to the two peoples and the world.
