Yanshan is the dividing line between agriculture and nomadism in ancient China. The Dongzhai site belongs to the south of Yanshan, and the Xinglongwa site belongs to the north of Yanshan, and the cultural relics unearthed from the Dongzhai site and the Xinglongwa site have similarities and many differences. The two sites are located in different historical periods, different cultural backgrounds and different stages of social development.
The pottery of Dongzhai and the pottery of Xinglongwa, in terms of shape and decoration, the pottery of the two sites is basically the same. It can be said that in terms of technical inheritance and cultural tradition, the pottery of the two sites is the same. However, the pottery excavated from the Xinglongwa site is mainly yellow-brown and gray-brown, while the pottery unearthed from the Dongzhai site is mainly reddish-brown.
The reason why the pottery has different colors under the same process may be different geographical environments, different resources, different cultures, different aesthetics, and different living habits.
The stone tools unearthed from the Dongzhai site and the Xinglongwa site are also very different, the Dongzhai site unearthed the largest number of stone pendants, small stone axes, these Xinglongwa sites do not, the main ones unearthed in Xinglongwa are hoes, shovels, chisels, axes, reflecting different social division of labor and technical levels.
A lot of bone tools have been unearthed in Xinglongwa, and there are no bone tools at the Dongzhai site. It is different religious beliefs and cultural traditions that cause this difference. History
