Tongquetai is a famous historical site of the Three Kingdoms period, located in Linzhang County, Handan City, Hebei Province, and built by Cao Cao.

The origin of Tongquetai is related to a dream of Cao Cao. It is said that when Cao Cao was in Yecheng, he dreamed of a golden bird flying into his arms. Xun You's interpretation of the dream believed that this dream was a sign of good fortune, because in ancient legends, Shun's mother once dreamed that the jade bird gave birth to the great Shun after entering her arms. Inspired by this dream, Cao Cao decided to build a high platform outside Yecheng to commemorate this dream, and cast a huge bronze finch on the roof of the building, hence the name "Bronze Bird Terrace".

Tongquetai is not just a building, it also symbolizes Cao Cao's power and ambition. According to historical records, Tongque Terrace is ten zhang high and has more than 100 houses, showing the grand scale at that time. In addition to the Tongque Terrace, there were also the Golden Tiger Terrace and the Ice Well Platform later, and these three platforms are collectively called "Ye Santai".

To sum up, Tongquetai is not only a symbol of Cao Cao's personal ambition, but also a treasure of ancient Chinese architectural art. Today, it is a historical site that attracts many tourists to visit and experience its magnificent history.
