Fudan has established four new engineering innovation colleges, which will start recruiting undergraduate students this year

Fudan University has introduced four new engineering innovation colleges to this year's undergraduate enrollment, which have recently begun construction. At the same time, the university has also launched the "Shannon Program" to prepare for the first batch of undergraduate students this year.
The four new colleges are the School of Integrated Circuits and Micro-Nano Electronics Innovation, the School of Computing and Intelligent Innovation, the School of Biomedical Engineering and Technology Innovation, and the School of Intelligent Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Innovation.
The relevant person in charge of the school said that the four innovation colleges will cooperate with the Shanghai Institute of Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences, the Shanghai Institute of Scientific Intelligence, the National Laboratory and other units, relying on the "2+X" talent training system of Fudan University to cultivate high-level new engineering innovation talents. At the same time, they will also strengthen the application and transformation of basic research and the acceleration mechanism of the innovation chain to provide services for national, regional and socio-economic development.
In the training system of top innovative talents, the importance of engineering talents is becoming more and more significant. A good engineer not only has an important role in the process of "going from 1 to 100", but also has a profound impact in "going from 0 to 1". If "0" represents the starting point of science and technology, then engineers can create human resources that meet the needs of the world from a blank space. For technology to truly change human society, a large number of excellent engineering talents are needed.
Among the colleges established this time, the School of Integrated Circuits and Micro-Nano Electronics Innovation will establish a large platform for the cultivation of integrated circuit talents with the integration of industry and education. The college will strengthen the integration mechanism of industry and education, establish a training practice and innovation and entrepreneurship base for integrated circuit talents, promote the construction of the "National Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform" and the "Yangtze River Delta Integrated Circuit Design and Manufacturing Collaborative Innovation Center", and is committed to building a collaborative innovation platform with the participation of Fudan University, advantageous universities in the Yangtze River Delta, leading enterprises and innovative enterprises.
The School of Computing and Intelligent Innovation will gradually build disciplines such as the mathematical foundation of artificial intelligence, intelligent computing theory and technology, intelligent system basic software, and robust intelligence theory and technology. Guided by "AI for Science", the school has formed an interdisciplinary and professional direction oriented to the paradigm change of scientific research.
The School of Biomedical Engineering and Technology Innovation will build a curriculum system with biomedical engineering as the core, combining science, engineering and medical courses as well as cross-innovation courses. The college will also actively promote students' participation in internships in hospitals, related businesses and departments during their studies, and encourage students to innovate and start businesses.
The School of Intelligent Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Innovation will draw on the "Pasteur model", face the scientific and technological development and industrial needs in the field of intelligent robots, cultivate students' creativity, experimental ability, design ability and system integration ability through the integration platform of industry and education, and cultivate outstanding inventors, engineering scientists, practical engineers and industrial leaders with original innovation ability for the country.
At the same time, Fudan University has also launched the "Shannon Plan", which will rely on the Xianghui Research Institute to cultivate talents. After admission, students can freely choose to enter the four innovation colleges, and implement personalized training programs, and are committed to cultivating world-class high-end artificial intelligence talents. The four innovation schools will also implement the undergraduate tutor system throughout the process, improve students' core competencies such as scientific and technological writing, promote the long-term study system, actively explore the training mechanism of undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees, and deepen cooperation with top international universities and research institutions.
