From today, people who buy or lease an electric car in the Netherlands can once again receive the subsidy, with a total of €87 million available, 12 million less than last year's funding.
Anyone who chooses to buy a new car can apply for a subsidy of €2,950. A used car will get less money: 2,000 euros. This means that in total, the subsidy budget can support the purchase of more than 34,000 vehicles.
The condition is that the car was purchased after December 31, 2023, or the lease contract was concluded after that date. The total value must not exceed €45,000. Applications can be submitted to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
* Hope to use subsidies to encourage electric driving. Currently, about 5% of passenger cars in the Netherlands are all-electric.
In the long run, the entire fleet should be able to drive with zero emissions. In addition to electric drives, this can also be achieved with hydrogen vehicles, but there are only a few hundred hydrogen vehicles in the Netherlands.
Last year, the subsidies for used cars were used up, but there are still a lot of subsidies for new cars. This is in stark contrast to previous years, when subsidies were quickly used up.
