The building is a stylish modern prefabricated cottage designed as a secluded retreat to relax and enjoy the natural Victorian bush landscape. The design is divided into two separate modules, with a covered deck area separating the two two modules.
The larger of the two modules features a spacious bedroom, bathroom, laundry room and open kitchen, while the smaller module doubles as a studio – offering additional bedrooms and bathrooms, perfect for guests. The house is located in a linear orientation in the center of the open space to provide a view.
The charcoal corrugated exterior wall is combined with the floor-to-ceiling charcoal joinery in the kitchen, the black oak flooring throughout, and the wood fireplace to create a unified light and dark atmosphere that echoes the natural surroundings of the home. Prefabricated modular homes create a strong connection to the specific environment, using a small number of cast-in-place components, while taking into account ecological foundations, such as using the same greening materials as the construction site.
