EAC certification for electrical and electronic appliances
According to the current technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union, the conformity assessment of the TR CU EAC certification of electrical products is mandatory. Therefore, to import, produce, and sell such products, businesses must obtain an official EAC Certificate of Conformity.
The current legislation of the Eurasian Union stipulates that most electrical products are subject to two Technical Regulations of the Customs Union (TR CU):
TR CU 004 2011 - Regulation of the safety and quality of low-voltage technical equipment entering the market;
TR CU 020 2011 specifies the requirements for the electromagnetic compatibility of electrical appliances.
These regulations prescribe EAC certification or EAC declaration for controlled products (depending on the use of the product). However, household appliances must be issued with an EAC Certificate of Conformity.
Therefore, the mandatory EAC certification applies to:
Lighting equipment. Personal computer.
Motion simulator.
Kitchen utensils. Clean utensils.
gardening equipment; Wait a minute.
The entire list of products subject to EAC certification is set out in the Annex to the TR CU 004 regulation. Low-voltage equipment not included in this list is subject to an EAC Declaration of Conformity.
What are the risks of not having an EAC certification claim?
Failure to comply with the rules of the Eurasian Economic Union is punishable by hefty administrative fines. Repeated violations can result in higher fines, confiscation of equipment and suspension of the activities of the offending company.
CU-TR EAC Certificate Format.
EAC certification for household appliances is done by issuing an EAC Certificate of Conformity to the applicant. This EAC Certificate of Conformity is in a special format with several different levels of anti-counterfeiting protection.
The contents of the EAC certificate for household appliances include the following information:
the unique number of the certificate (which must be registered in the Unified Register);
the name and number of the certificate recognized by the certification body;
details of the applicant and the equipment manufacturer;
Product description; the name of the regulatory regulation (technical regulation) in which the product fully complies with its requirements;
Research test report;
Date of issuance and expiration date.
According to the approved rules, each EAC Certificate of Conformity must have the seal of the certification body and the signature of its responsible person and expert.
Documents required for EAC certification of electrical appliances and processing time
Mandatory EAC certification of electrical appliances can only be carried out if the applicant has certain documents.
The list of required documents depends on the quality confirmation plan. Typically includes:

national standards or technical specifications on the basis of which the goods are produced (in the case of production in the EU);
technical documentation on the equipment;
Registration and statutory documents of the applicant.
EAC certificates are issued within a few working days (minimum of 2 days). The time it takes to obtain an EAC Certificate of Conformity is first and foremost affected by the inspection program.
Voluntary GOST certification for electrical appliances
After completing the mandatory EAC certification, enterprises can also apply for a voluntary GOST certification certificate. In Russia, this voluntary GOST certificate is usually applied for in the GOST R system.
The presence of voluntary GOST certification is an important advantage when participating in competitions and tenders. In addition, the GOST R system logo increases consumer confidence and interest.
