Huawei plans to launch a developer beta version in the first quarter of 2024 and a commercial version in the fourth quarter of 2024. The commercial version is expected to be launched by the new Mate series phones that will be launched in the second half of 2024. At present, Huawei has opened the beta recruitment of the HarmonyOS Next developer preview version, which supports the registration of Huawei Mate 60, Mate 60 Pro, and Mate X5 models.

In addition, Huawei also announced the foundation of the operating system, including AI model, AI framework, integrated development environment, design system, programming framework, compiler and runtime, programming language, file system, and OS kernel. The first batch of more than 200 HarmonyOS native applications is being developed at an accelerated pace, and partners are also opening up their vertical innovation capabilities to jointly provide developers with efficient full-link development tools and capabilities.

This release marks an important step forward for Huawei in the field of operating systems, demonstrating its strength in full-stack self-developed technologies and its vision for future operating systems. Huawei said that 2024 will be a key year for the comprehensive evolution of the HarmonyOS ecosystem, and Huawei will work with developers to build a HarmonyOS ecosystem and bring a historic leap forward to the mobile application ecosystem.
