Winter is a season of high incidence of burns and scalds, the majority of people return to their hometowns in the New Year, always love to gossip around the fire, or to celebrate the arrival of the New Year, the family sets off fireworks together, and the incidence of burns and scalds in winter also increases. All kinds of ** soil methods of burns and scalds emerge in endlessly, and you must not do this after burning:
Apply toothpaste. After the toothpaste is applied to the wound, the patient feels cool and comfortable because the toothpaste contains peppermint, but it does not have the effect of anti-infection, but may aggravate the wound infection.
Spread soy sauce. Soy sauce cannot achieve the effect of isolating bacteria, and the wound staining will also affect the doctor's judgment of the depth of the wound.
Hydrogen peroxide cleaning.
Hydrogen peroxide is well known to the public as a commonly used disinfectant, and when injured, it is natural to think of using it to disinfect, but burn wounds are usually cleaner and do not need to be cleaned with hydrogen peroxide, the key is that hydrogen peroxide is corrosive and will aggravate the injury and pain.
Sprinkle with salt, sugar and flour.
After applying these things to the wound, the wound is irritated, the pain is increased, and the exudate and flour and salt in the wound form a thick scab shell, which makes debridement difficult and further increases the pain of the patient.
Cut the blister skin yourself.
The aseptic conditions for self-treatment at home are not up to standard, and the use of needles, scissors and other tools to pick up the blister skin not only increases the risk of bacterial and fungal infection, but also increases the risk of tetanus infection.
In addition to the above-mentioned common soil methods, the hospital has also seen various methods such as mud, purple potion, sesame oil, liquor, chili noodles, etc., which can be said to taste the sweet, sour, bitter and salty.
So today we are going to learn about the pre-hospital first aid measures for burns.
Burns and scalds refer to injuries caused by heat (flames, burning gases, liquids, solids), chemicals, radioactive substances and electricity, etc., many patients and their families use "toothpaste, clear oil, salt, soy sauce" and other external smearing on the burn wound after injury, improper treatment will lead to aggravation or delay of the disease**, so how should we deal with the early stage of injury? When do I need to go to the hospital or be hospitalized**?
After an injury, keep in mind the four-character mantra "flush, take off, cover, send".
Flushing: Immediately remove from the pyrogen, continue to rinse (or soak or cold compress) with cold water (12-25 °C) to burn the scald wound for about 30 minutes, and the force of the flushing water flow should not be too large until the pain is relieved; Avoid direct contact with ice and frostbite. Cold therapy is not suitable for large burns and scalds, and should be sent to the hospital immediately.
Shedding: After sufficient cooling, take off the clothing on the surface of the wound, loose clothing can be taken off directly, close-fitting or charred clothing should be cut with scissors and removed, pay attention to protect the blisters and blister skin.
Cover: After the above simple treatment, apply sterile dressings to cover the wound, remember not to apply drugs and home remedies by yourself, which will easily lead to aggravation of injury, increase the probability of infection, and is not convenient for doctors to judge the depth of the wound.
Send: Except for very small and shallow (only one scald) burns, it is best to go to the burn department of the hospital for regular diagnosis and treatment.
In the event of any of the following, you should immediately be sent to the hospital for regular treatment
1.1 palm-sized burn wound or more (1%)
2.Large blisters may be seen within the wound.
3.The pain is unbearable, and the pain sensation of the local wound disappears.
4.Burns to the joints of the limbs.
5.Special types of burns, such as electrical burns, chemical burns, etc.
6.Combined with inhalation injury or other significant trauma to the site.
Based on the size and depth of the burn wound, the cause of the burn, other trauma and underlying medical conditions, the physician can decide whether to admit the patient to an inpatient or outpatient clinic after taking a medical history and a thorough physical examination.
Please come to the hospital for consultation on the treatment of burn wounds, the early recovery period of burn wounds, and the treatment of scars after burns.
