At the entrance of the Life Science Museum of Kunming Medical University, there is a pair of "human skeletons". Before their deaths, they were a loving couple, but also a medical couple, a poor boy from a poor background married Miss Gui, and had ups and downs for 57 years.
After their deaths, they chose to donate their bodies and continue their front edges, still side by side. Who is the couple, and what is the story between them?
Li Bingquan, a poor orphan from Tengchong. When he was a child, his parents died of illness one after another, and because of this, he was determined to devote himself to medicine in this life to save lives and help the injured.
In order to enter the medical school, he walked for two months to take refuge in his fellow villagers, and witnessed the fall of his family and country all the way, sad and indignant, and finally he was successfully admitted to the medical school of Yunnan University.
During his time at school, Li Bingquan cherished this hard-won learning opportunity, and in addition to eating and sleeping, he was studying, from the library to the teahouse, as long as he could read books.
During this time, he found himself always meeting a girl in the library and teahouse, and the two like-minded people quickly attracted each other.
Hu Suqiu, the baby daughter of Hu Ying, a famous national protector. Since she was a child, she has seen all kinds of the world with her father, which makes her independent and assertive.
She never relied on the silk flowers of the big tree, she grew into a big tree herself. And what Li Bingquan wants is such a partner and comrade-in-arms who fights side by side.
In 1948, Hu Suqiu received a gold set of ash rods engraved with her name and date, "No. 51 Parker Gold Pen", which was a gift from Li Bingquan to her marriage. At the end of the following year, the two tied the knot.
After getting married, the two went to work in the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University and became the first batch of doctors in New China. One of them is the founder of neurosurgery in Yunnan, and the other is an obstetrics and gynecology specialist in Yunnan.
The husband and wife worked diligently, saving lives, treating diseases and saving lives. They have been doctors all their lives, and they have also brought out many excellent offspring.
They have a clear conscience about "everyone", but they owe too much to the "small family". Their three sons and daughters have heard the most since they were young: come to the hospital, there is an emergency.
Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu are so busy that the family eats together very rarely. Even if it is rare for parents to come home for dinner, work is the chatter at the dinner table.
At that time, the usual things they had at home were snacks and biscuits, because the couple often did not have time to eat.
However, even so, the husband and wife are concerned about each other. Hu Suqiu had a cerebral hemorrhage, and Li Bingquan directly took charge of the operation and pulled his wife back from the ghost gate.
This is the love between them, which does not mention love everywhere, but is full of love everywhere.
After their retirement, they did not stay at home to recuperate. They will still go to the hospital for consultations or read books, do research, and write at home, as usual.
It is such a medical couple, under the common ideal, hand in hand, for 57 years. The greatest romance between husband and wife is "I want to spend the rest of my life with you", and they did it.
At the hospital, they have spent most of their lives dealing with death and new births. This makes them feel more relieved about death than ordinary people.
Li Bingquan, who has been sick for many years, has mentioned the donation of his body to his wife and children more than once. He said that he had been a doctor all his life, and after his death, he wanted to contribute to medicine again.
In this regard, although several of the children are doctors, it is difficult for them to accept their father's decision for a while.
There are five classics of etiquette, and it is more important than sacrifices" Li Bingquan's idea was quite shocking at the time, and his eldest son was silent for a long time, and finally chose to respect his father's wishes.
The reason why Lee Byung-kuen chose to donate his body so resolutely was because he knew that there were too few bodies available for teaching and scientific research.
Normally, an anatomy class is usually 2-3 people in charge of a corpse. However, because there is not enough body in Kunming Medical College, 30-35 people use one body. This will neither meet the needs of students nor advance the development of medical research.
And the reason why he decided to donate his body was because of an exchange and learning experience. At that time, he went to Qingdao Medical College for exchange and study, and happened to see the skeleton of Professor Shen Fupeng.
Professor Shen Fupeng used to be his teacher, and seeing the teacher's dedication, Li Bingquan also said that he wanted to use this "stinky skin" to make some contributions to medicine.
He said: "I have had cerebral infarction, high blood pressure and arteriosclerosis, and I can do a case autopsy after death. After the dissection, my old skeleton can still be used for teaching. ”
After convincing his family, Li Bingquan signed a body donation form to donate his body to his alma mater, becoming the first medical professor in Yunnan Province to donate his body.
And Hu Suqiu's husband and wife signed the body donation letter on the spot. Before dying, Li Bingquan took his wife's hand with some reluctance and said: "I am 80 years old, and you are almost 80 years old." The coming days are short, birth, old age, sickness and death are natural laws, I want to go first, you must live well. ”
On March 29, 2005, Professor Li Bingquan passed away due to illness. When handing over his body to his alma mater, his wife, Hu Suqiu, said that her husband had "fulfilled his life's wish."
After the death of her husband, Hu Suqiu was in pain for a while. But thinking of what her husband said to herself on his deathbed, she quickly perked up.
In the days that followed, as usual, she went to the clinic on time, living her life in a plain and orderly manner, the only thing that changed was that she planted a bamboo forest in front of the house.
There is an iron plaque in the bamboo forest, which is engraved: Bamboo Soul - Li Bingquan (1922-2005). This is the sustenance of Hu Suqiu's thoughts and love for her husband, and now, they have grown into two stories tall and flourishing.
Hu Suqiu often looks at the bamboo forest in a daze, and when she is older, she also likes to recall the past. She said: "I chose Li Bingquan because I admired his spirit of ambition, unswerving, self-improvement, and hard work, and he had a deep love for me. ”
She spent 10 years alone. In December 2015, Hu Suqiu passed away, and wrote in her will: "The cornea, imported lens, skin, liver, kidney, etc. are provided to patients in need, and finally sent for autopsy." ”
In 2019, the two elderly people finally "reunited", and their skeleton specimens were placed together at the entrance of the Life Science Museum of Kunming Medical University.
After 14 years, they continue to fight side by side at their alma mater in this special way. In this regard, the children of the two were full of emotion.
Their son, Li Xiangxin, said that since he chose to pursue the path of medicine, his father has always emphasized to him that being a doctor is not a profession, but a career that requires a lifetime of dedication.
Regarding the "reunion" of his parents, Li Xiangxin said: "When my father was seriously ill, he told my mother, and he said that I was very satisfied in this life. I have three greatest assets, the first of which is that I have three children who are studious, sensible and law-abiding. The second wealth is that I have thousands of medical books. The third wealth is her, a good wife who has been with each other all her life. ”
After 10 years of death from spring to autumn, 93-year-old Hu Suqiu chose her husband to sing with her wife, donate her body, and "fight side by side" with her husband again.
The husband and wife devoted themselves to medicine before their deaths, and donated their bodies to serve medicine after their deaths. Full of sincerity and enthusiasm, crossing the boundary between life and death, they are still glorious even though they die.
Life and death are the same coffin, and the glass window is their special grave. They stand side by side, revealing the mystery of the human skeleton to the students and continuing the vast love.
I think death is never the end but another beginning for them. The people are gone, but the soul lives on.
