Why didn't the Chunfeng 800MT launch an Adventure R Rally version that is more suitable for off-road riding like the KTM 790 Adventure? Presumably many friends have this kind of question, it is true that KTM's ADV model level has a general version and R version, and even a Rally version, the latter is more prominent in off-road performance, and the former is more popular. The Chunfeng 800MT, which is also equipped with a KTM engine, naturally has this potential, and the 800MT has always been said by many riders that the off-road performance is not hardcore enough, but the MT-X unveiled at the Milan Motor Show seems to be a hardcore version of the 800MT.
Chunfeng MT-X as a concept model unveiled at the Milan Motor Show, many foreign media speculated that the MT-X will become an iterative model of the 800MT, which will be equipped with the same engine as the 890 with a larger displacement, because the KTM 990 has been introduced to the market, so the engine of the 890 has been opened to the Chunfeng. There is also speculation that the MT-X is only a Rare version of the 800MT, and in order to make up for the lack of the 800MT in off-roading, there is no conclusive opinion. I thought that the spring breeze was just showing off its muscles, but recently some foreign media have already ridden the MT-X, so is this ready to be introduced to the market?
Chunfeng's layout in the international market in recent years is obvious to all, and it can even be said that it is the best development of domestic brand large-displacement motorcycles in overseas markets. Some time ago, the 450MT has been the first to be listed overseas, and this MT-X has also been tested for the first time overseas, in fact, it is not difficult to find that this hard-core model has a wider audience in the overseas market than in the domestic market. If it's just a simple display, it stands to reason that it shouldn't be tested, unless Chunfeng really plans to launch the MT-X.
The exterior styling of the Chunfeng MT-X is very different from that of the 800MT, and as a hardcore RALL model, the MT-X is highly similar to the style of the KTM 790 Adventure R Rally, and it can even be said that it is a remake of the 790 Adventure R Rally. It's also an off-road style setting, with the same 21-inch front and rear 18-inch wire-spoke wheels, and even KTM's signature low-level fuel tank and high-exhaust design.
However, the front shape of the MT-X maintains the style of 800MT, but the details are quite different, the lights remain the same but the "bird's beak" is different, and the entire front of the car surrounds the shape, the MT-X is much simpler than the 800MT, and there is no original spotlight, the main thing is a capable and lightweight.
In order to be more in line with the Rally style setting, the MT-X does not use an 800MT horizontal screen meter, it looks more like the large vertical screen meter on the 800NK. As for the function, it should be as rich as the 800NK, and the 800MT is now fully electronically controlled, full-featured TCS, fast row, curve ABS or something, and it will naturally not be a problem in MT-X.
However, there are some configurations on the MT-X that are a bit too high, such as the front brake calipers of the Brembo M50S, the front brake protector, the rear shock absorber of Ohlins, and the exhaust of the Scorpio, which is not to say that it cannot be placed on the production model, but it will increase the cost a lot.
For Chunfeng, it is not difficult to mass-produce the MT-X, after all, whether it is the show car on the booth or the car tested by the foreign media, the degree of completion seems to be very high, and the rest is estimated to be only some tuning and finalization of the final configuration. If the Chunfeng MT-X is successfully launched, it will not only become a representative of domestic large-displacement hard-core rally motorcycles, but also become a "flat" model of the KTM 790 R Rally 890 R Rally, after all, the price of these two cars is too high and too far away from mass consumers.
