The reporter learned from the Rescue and Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport on January 30 that as the new flagship of China's professional maritime salvage force, the "Nanhai Rescue 103" ship with a full load displacement of 19,000 tons was officially put into use on the same day.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Rescue and Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport,The "Nanhai Rescue 103" is a deep-sea high-power multi-functional comprehensive rescue ship designed and built by China, with a total length of 1369 meters, 267 meters, 11 meters deep, design draft 65 meters, bollard towing force of 350 tons, endurance of 16,000 nautical miles, self-sustaining force of 90 days. It also has the functions of search and rescue of persons in distress on the surface, towing and rescue of ships in distress in the deep sea, three-dimensional search and rescue support of sea and air, external fire fighting, emergency rescue and rescue, information transmission and emergency command, and oil spill pollution monitoring. The ship is equipped with DP3 dynamic positioning system, which can carry large and medium-sized rescue***, and has a 6,000-meter autonomous cableless submarine and a deep-sea towing system, which is at the international leading level.

The person in charge said that the construction of the "South China Sea Rescue 103" ship is an important measure to implement the "Outline for the Construction of a Transportation Power" on "new equipment such as large-scale deep-sea multi-functional rescue ships" and the "National Comprehensive Three-dimensional Transportation Network Planning Outline" on "strengthening the construction of deep-sea polar rescue capacity" and other important measures, filling the gap in China's deep-sea comprehensive search and rescue capabilities. The ship will be officially put into use, which will effectively deal with and respond to various maritime emergencies, carry out deep-sea distress ships, aircraft search and rescue tasks, and provide safety and service guarantee for maritime transportation and marine resource development in the South China Sea. Participating in global maritime search and rescue and international rescue operations and maintaining the safety of China's maritime transportation channels is of great significance to ensure the safety of maritime lives and the smooth flow of maritime logistics chains in the South China Sea.
It is understood that with the addition of the "South China Sea Rescue 103" ship, the salvage system of the Ministry of Transport has dynamically deployed 25 professional rescue boats and 4 rescue emergency rescue teams in key sea areas such as eastern Guangdong, Pearl River Estuary, Qiongzhou Strait, Xisha and Nansha in the South China Sea area, and implemented 24-hour all-weather duty standby to ensure the safety of the masses at sea.
