The reporter learned from CNOOC today (8th) that China's first deep-water deep oilfield, Kaiping South Oilfield, was discovered in the Pearl River Estuary Basin, and the proven oil and gas geological reserves were 10.2 billion tons of oil equivalent, which is also the largest oil field independently discovered in the deepwater field in China.
In the field of offshore oil and gas exploration, the sea area with a water depth of more than 300 meters is generally called deep water, and the well with a well depth of more than 3,500 meters is defined as a deep well. The Kaiping South Oilfield discovered this time is located about 300 kilometers southwest of Shenzhen, with a maximum water depth of 532 meters and a maximum well depth of 4,831 meters. It was found that the well was drilled and encountered 100 oil and gas layers6 meters, the average daily oil and gas production of the test exceeded 1,000 tons, setting a new record for the test output of deep-water deep oil and gas in China.
Liu Jun, Chief Geologist of CNOOC Shenzhen Branch: The geological conditions of Kaiping Sag are complex, and faults criss-cross the area, making exploration extremely difficult. On the basis of the new first-class data, we have deepened the understanding of the distribution of source rocks and the law of oil and gas accumulation, clarified the oil and gas enrichment areas, re-evaluated the resources, and intensively deployed exploration wells in the Kaiping South area since last year, of which 4 exploration wells have been tested to obtain high-yield industrial oil flows.
After 40 years of exploration in Kaiping Sag, many foreign oil companies have failed after drilling, and China's marine exploration workers have carried out research on precise source rocks and fine fault characterization, and have continuously deepened their understanding, thus achieving a breakthrough in Kaiping Sag exploration.
Xu Changgui, Deputy Chief Engineer of CNOOC Exploration: The discovery of Kaiping South Oilfield has broken the situation that there has been no large-scale discovery of deep-water deep-depth exploration in China, fully demonstrated the broad prospects of deep-water deep oil and gas exploration in China, and further consolidated the resource base for the high-quality development of China's offshore oil industry.
