After the recent death of Elder Wahaha, China's richest man, Zhong Sui, and his Nongfu Spring were pushed to the forefront. In the reminiscence and clarification article of "My Two and Three Matters with the Elder Zong", Mr. Zhong did not forget to promote his own products: To this day, I still insist that the mineral elements in water are essential for human health, which is why I insist on producing natural water.
This has undoubtedly put the debate between natural water and pure water on the table againAs we all know, in 2000, Zhong Sui took the initiative to attack, claiming that pure water is not beneficial to human health and decided to produce only natural water, the most amazing thing is that he relied on the "Daffodil Experiment" to defeat the enemy, and then swept the country through the advertising slogan of "Nongfu Spring is a little sweet", and quickly broke out of the encirclement, until he reached the throne of bottled water sales, staged a classic case in the history of Chinese marketing. And Wahaha pure water has been in a slump since then, and even supermarkets of all sizes have disappeared.
The "daffodil experiment" is obviously unscientific, but who really understands science among ordinary people? One of my next surveys will show that even today's college students lack the ability to think scientifically! This may be the reason why Nongfu Spring wins: most of us lack scientific thinking, and are easily influenced or even convinced by specious opinions.
Personally, I don't agree with Mr. Chung's statementThe minerals in bottled water are not essential for human health. I believe that the main way for the human body to replenish minerals and trace elements is through food and the public water supply system (tap water). Packaged drinking water (such as natural water) contains a low concentration of minerals (negligible compared to three meals a day), and for a person who eats normally, there is no need to rely on bottled water to replenish minerals. What's more, if there is a real lack of a certain mineral, it is best for him to go to the hospital for examination and prescribe special preparations to replenish and recover, rather than drinking Nongfu Spring. Therefore, from the perspective of drinking water safety, especially in the context of China's rapid economic development for decades, which has led to serious water pollution, I am more inclined to drink pure water.
However, the climax of this article has not yet arrived! Look at a survey I did the day before yesterday!
Because I was recently teaching an undergraduate course on "Water Environment and Water Pollution", I took advantage of the hot topic and assigned an after-class assignment to see how college students think about it today. The title is as follows:
Please conduct a comprehensive and in-depth investigation and research on literature, social reality and engineering practice, and answer the following questions by taking the drinking pure water produced by Wahaha, the drinking natural water (or drinking mineral water) produced by Nongfu Spring, and the drinking mineral water produced by Master Kong as examples, combined with the actual production and life in China.1) Definition of drinking mineral water, drinking natural water, drinking purified water, and drinking mineral water, and what are the differences in water quality between the four (refer to relevant national or local standards and specifications).
2) Please analyze carefully, think deeply, and scientifically demonstrate: natural water vsPurified water, the two types of packaged drinking water, which is more beneficial to human health?
There are 28 students in this class (juniors), and for question (1), most of the students were able to answer the definition and difference between the four types of water by consulting the information. The question lies in question (2), and I was surprised and even surprised that 26 students believed that natural water was more beneficial to health than pure water, because natural water can replenish the minerals and trace elements needed by the human body! Only 2 students believed that the main source of minerals and trace elements in the human body was food rather than packaged drinking water, and the rest of the students did not even mention it – and regardless of the conclusions, it showed that they lacked rigorous logical analysis and scientific thinking.
These college students were born in 2002 and 2003, and I even wonder if they ever did a daffodil experiment! According to ** reports, Zhong selected 2,700 primary schools in 21 cities across the country to carry out the "Striving to Be a Little Scientist Activity", which is to do comparative experiments similar to daffodils. Of course I'm just joking, it can't have anything to do with that. It can only be said that the vast majority of us actually lack scientific thinking and independent thinking ability! Some preconceived notions are always deeply ingrained in our thinking and behavior.
The idea that natural water is healthier than pure water is so deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, from this point of view, it may not be so easy for Wahaha to turn around and return to the top, and what is in front of Zong Fuli is a serious challenge, let us wait and see.
