Are you going to get serious? Continental dredgers arrive at Kinmen and can be used to dredge sea lanesRecently, we have just concluded the first consultation with the Taiwan side, but unfortunately, the Taiwan side still shows that it is sticking to its own views and making no compromises. Despite our great sincerity, the handling of the "fishing boat incident" has been delayed for half a month, but it has still not been satisfactorily resolved. What is even more dissatisfying is that the relevant people in Taiwan not only did not apologize, but publicly denied the occurrence of the incident, and tried to blame the mismanagement of our so-called "three-nil vessels". In this case, it is necessary for us to take some actions outside of negotiations to deal with the non-cooperation attitude of the Taiwanese side!
As we all know, China is in a leading position in dredging waterway technology, with a series of advanced dredging vessels, such as the Sky Whale, Tian Kun, etc. These vessels are not only of great value in clearing shipping lanes and widening ports, but also play a key role in areas such as land reclamation. According to the public waterway information, we learned that a number of dredging vessels, including the Shunda ship, Jinhua 168 ship, Junhua 568 ship, and Hangjie 2006 ship, have appeared in the waters near Kinmen. This could mean that we are likely to take stronger action at Kinmen!
First of all, I think the purpose of sending the dredging vessels may be to prepare for more and larger surface ships to go to the Xiajin Sea in advance. Due to the incompetence of the Taiwanese authorities, many shipping lanes near Kinmen (such as the Liu Wudian Channel) were almost abandoned, making it difficult for large ships to pass. In the current situation, we are probably sending dredging vessels to clear the waterway so that we can send more powerful 5,000-ton coast guard vessels, or even 10,000-ton coast guard vessels, to exert pressure! Prior to this, the most powerful coast guard ship we had patrolled the Xiajin Sea was only 2,000 tons, which may not be enough to make a big impact on the coast guard! This may be one of the reasons why they dare to be so arrogant!
Secondly, we may have sent dredging vessels for the worst-case scenario. What does this mean? Not long ago, we have sent an 8,000-ton RoPax ship to the nearby waters, which can carry more than 500 people and more than 20 vehicles of various kinds. I believe that if the Coast Guard and the Taiwan authorities continue to provoke or persist in their current erroneous stance, then we do not rule out the possibility of landing on the island.
Although the Taiwan authorities are usually known for their relaxed style and low force, their armed forces often lack "clear operational objectives" and "combat significance." In this case, the combat effectiveness is naturally lower. But as the saying goes, "fully assess the strength of the enemy", especially the Taiwanese armed personnel on Kinmen Island have always numbered more than 3,000 people, and even taking into account the weekend rotation, there are more than 2,000. It is clear that a RoPax ship capable of carrying more than 500 people is not enough.
In contrast, we have many similar large ro-ro vessels, such as the Bohai Cuizhu ro-ro ship launched in 2009. The total length of the ship reached 16395 meters, 25 meters wide, displacement up to 240,000 tons. The ship has three decks and a vehicle lane length of nearly two kilometers, which can accommodate more than 200 vehicles of all kinds and more than 2,000 people, with a strong loading capacity.
Therefore, our move to send dredgers may be so that large ships like this can go to nearby waters and send a strong warning message to the Taiwan authorities.
