I am in my 30s this year, after graduating from university, I went to work in Guangzhou, after years of hard work, I was promoted to become a workshop supervisor, and the annual salary was 200,000 yuan.
At first, my relatives and friends at home still didn't understand it, but now, after a year's hard work, I have earned 500,000 yuan.
My hometown is in the countryside of Guigang, Guangxi, and I have two older sisters at home, and my parents planted a large area of sugarcane at home, and when the sugarcane orchard had a harvest, they transported the sugarcane to the sugar factory in the county seat and sold it.
Although the parents are also very diligent, but because the family has a lot of expenses, so they can't save much money after a busy year, and even if it is time for the Chinese New Year, they can't come up with the money to buy a few new clothes.
Because the conditions at home are not good, the two sisters went out to work after finishing junior high school, although the salary is not high, but the two sisters will send the money they saved home.
During the college entrance examination, due to my poor grades, I originally planned to go out to work with my sister, but my two sisters said that I should go to a junior college, so that I would have a higher education in the future and it would be easier to find a job.
With the help of my two older sisters, I went to Guangzhou to study for a junior college, and after graduation, I stayed in Guangzhou to work in a large electronics factory.
There are more than 1,000 employees in the whole factory, at the beginning, I was working as a maintenance worker in a workshop, although the salary is not high, but the usual work is relatively leisurely, as long as the machine in the workshop does not fail, I only need to work 8 hours a day.
After working for a few years, I got married and rented a house of more than 60 square meters in the urban village next to the factory.
In the years that followed, with my own efforts, I was promoted from a maintenance worker to a workshop supervisor step by step, and my salary continued to increase.
It's just that with the family having 2 children, the annual expenses are not a small amount, so it is not easy to save money.
Originally, I also hoped to be able to buy a house in Guangzhou, but the housing prices in Guangzhou are getting more and more expensive.
In October 2022, I took my family back to my hometown, and accidentally met an old classmate, who learned that the old classmate ran a fruit business at home, sold fruits to other provinces in the form of e-commerce, and bought land in the county seat in just a few years to build a 7-story house, which made me feel very envious.
After returning to Guangzhou, I thought about it carefully and planned to return to my hometown to sell fruits.
First, there are a lot of orchards around the village, the small ones have dozens of acres, and the large ones have hundreds of acres.
In the case of mandarin oranges, the cost price of buying a pound of mandarin oranges in my hometown is about 1 yuan, while I buy a pound of mandarin oranges in Guangzhou, and it costs 3 or 4 yuan.
Second, the infrastructure of my hometown has been continuously improved over the years, and logistics has become more and more convenient, even in remote towns and villages, logistics sites have been established, so I think it is quite promising to operate a fruit business in the form of e-commerce.
So, after thinking about it for more than a month, I decided to quit my job and go back to my hometown to sell fruits.
At first, my family still disagreed, thinking that my job was relatively stable, and my annual salary of 200,000 yuan was not low, and if I returned to my hometown to sell fruits, it would be equivalent to starting from scratch.
In addition, the two children in the family are all studying and need a lot of expenses, so if they return to their hometown to sell fruits, they may not be better off than they are now.
Although my family's worries were somewhat justified, I still refused to change my mind, after all, I was in my 30s, and if I continued to work in the factory, I might not be able to get a promotion and a raise.
What's more, housing prices in Guangzhou are also very expensive, with some real estate prices in the urban area costing 780,000 yuan per square meter, and even the suburbs costing 120,000 yuan, so a family can only rent a house.
In his hometown, the house price per square meter is about 4,000 yuan, and various expenses can also be saved.
After returning to their hometown, some relatives and elders in the village felt very incomprehensible, and occasionally complained a few words, saying that there was no future in their hometown, and those who had the ability should go to the big city.
But I didn't care.
After returning to my hometown, I rented a factory on the outskirts of the county, which was also very spacious, and I usually went to the orchards around the county to buy fruits.
Due to the high yield of fruits in the area, it was easy to buy fruits, and with the help of my old classmates, I also reached cooperation with several logistics companies.
When I first started my business, in order to save costs, I was busy with most of the things alone, starting at 7 o'clock in the morning and sometimes finishing work until 1 o'clock in the morning.
At the same time, various difficulties were encountered, such as the fact that some fruits are not easy to preserve, are easy to be damaged during transportation, and some fruits have a low unit price and make less profit after removing various costs.
However, with my own perseverance, I persevered.
After a year of hard work, the business gradually improved, and I also hired more than a dozen workers to help and built a cold storage.
This year's hard work can be regarded as paying off, in addition to various costs, I earned 500,000 yuan, which is higher than the previous income.
