As a highly open economy, Vietnam cannot avoid the impact of external fluctuations in the face of huge risks and challenges to the world economy in 2024. In this context, Deputy Minister of Industry Nguyen Thanh Tan was interviewed by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on the potential of Vietnam's export of flagship products and its future support policies to promote the export of enterprises.
Nguyen Thanh Tan said that in 2023, Vietnam's exports of various goods achieved breakthrough growth, such as: rice exports reached US$4.7 billion, an increase of 35.53%;The export value of fruits and vegetables was 5.6 billion US dollars, an increase of 667%。In addition, the export of some products showed a positive recovery, such as: steel exports reached 8.4 billion US dollars, an increase of 45%;The export value of computers, electronic products and parts was 57.3 billion US dollars, an increase of 32%;The export value of transport vehicles and parts was 14.2 billion US dollars, an increase of 181%。
It is worth noting that products with an export value of $1 billion or more are increasing year by year, and account for a large proportion of the country's total exports. In 2013, there were only 23 products with an export value of more than $1 billion. In 2018, there were 29 projects with an export value of more than $1 billion, and in 2023, there are 35 projects with an export value of more than $1 billion.
According to the assessment of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the world and domestic economic environment will have more positive factors for the movement of imports and outflows in 2024. At the same time, Vietnam's efforts to promote negotiations and diversify export markets will also bring more competitive advantages to exports in the near future.
In order to promote the export of advantageous products, Nguyen Thanh Sen believes that enterprises should innovate production activities and improve product quality, and production activities need to meet consumer needs. In addition, companies must research and update new technologies and promote automation to reduce product costs.
