Common heat treatments include solution treatment and aging treatment.
Solution annealing: Stainless steel is heated to a solution temperature (typically 1000°C to 1100°C), held for a certain period of time and then rapidly cooled to dissolve the supersaturated solid solution in the alloying elements, eliminate the precipitates and improve the plasticity and toughness of the material.
Aging treatment: After solution treatment, the hardening phase is precipitated by holding it at a lower temperature (usually between 500°C and 850°C) for a period of time, thereby increasing the strength and hardness of the material.
Welding performance characteristics:
Welding can be performed by various commonly used welding methods, such as manual arc welding, TIG welding, MIG MAG welding, etc.
The greater the thickness of the material, the greater the width of the weld heat-affected zone. It is important to note that there is a risk of intergranular corrosion susceptibility (IGSCC) during high-temperature welding, so a suitable stainless steel annealing or solution treatment is required after welding to eliminate intergranular susceptibility.
Preheating and post-heat treatment: For larger sizes or thicknesses of weldments, preheating and post-heat treatment may be required to reduce weld stress and improve weld performance.
Main application areas:
1.It is used in the manufacture of corrosion-resistant vessels, reactors, pipelines, pumps and valves and other equipment, and has good stability under various corrosive media.
2.It is suitable for pipes, heat exchangers, storage tanks and other equipment in marine environment, sulfur-containing media, and has excellent corrosion resistance.
3.It is widely used in the production of food processing equipment, storage tanks, etc., because of its non-toxic, corrosion-resistant, and easy-to-clean characteristics.
4.It can be used for steelmaking equipment, ironmaking equipment, refractory manufacturing, etc. under high temperature and high pressure.
5.It is suitable for the manufacture of aero engine components and aerospace equipment, and is widely used in aerospace engineering because of its high temperature resistance.
Some characteristics and treatment methods of the surface:
1.It has a relatively high finish and is able to provide a relatively smooth surface.
2.Due to the presence of alloying elements, it has good corrosion resistance and can withstand well in humid, acidic or alkaline environments.
3.Surface treatment: In order to further improve the performance and appearance of the surface, different surface treatment methods can be adopted, such as:
Pickling: By soaking in an acidic solution, the oxides and impurities on the surface can be removed, and the surface finish and corrosion resistance can be improved.
Mechanical polishing: Through mechanical grinding and polishing, a smoother and brighter surface can be obtained.
Coating treatment: By means of electroplating or chemical coating, a thin film can be formed on the surface to provide additional protection and aesthetics.
